Your Resume Alone Won’t Get You a DevOps Job Anymore. Recruiters and hiring managers are no longer stopping at your CV. Before they even schedule an interview, many of them are already checking: • Your LinkedIn • Your GitHub • Your Medium articles • Your online presence overall In DevOps, your digital footprint matters almost as much as your resume. Anyone can list: “Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, AWS, CI/CD…” But recruiters want proof. They want to see: • Projects you actually built • Pipelines you configured • Infrastructure you deployed • Problems you solved • How you think as an engineer This is why I always tell aspiring DevOps engineers: Don’t just learn. Build publicly. Document your journey. Post your projects on GitHub. Share your lessons on LinkedIn. Write technical breakdowns on Medium. Even a simple project can stand out when you explain: • The goal • The architecture • The challenges • The mistakes • The improvements you made That consistency builds credibility. And here’s something many people don’t realize: DevOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering roles overlap heavily. So position yourself for all three, not just “DevOps Engineer.” Your online presence should make recruiters feel like: “This person already works like an engineer.” Because in today’s market, your resume gets you noticed… but your visibility, projects, and consistency help get you hired.
