Signs of improvement only begin to appear around the age of 23, accompanied by frequent and severe relapses. He still cares deeply for riley as time passes, accumulating a large sense of guilt and an overwhelming feeling/recounting of helplessness one of the main reasons of guilt was the fact that he enjoyed something that essentially ruined Riley Using such substances helped him, in some twisted way, feel closer to Riley. Through this, Mihai also adopted some of the same reasoning riley had when it came to using drugs (short-term stability, happiness) Riley, in his own way, had subject mihai to the same abuse, neglect, and isolation

(1) LORE SUMMARY Prologue - begins with Mihai’s childhood, where he grew up with Riley, Konstantin, and Elena. They are the people who are closest to him. In their late teenage years, Riley (16), whom comes from an abusive and neglectful household, is exposed to addictive street drugs by another friend group of older kids. Riley discovers that these substances can provide him with short-term stability, happiness, and normalcy, which is something he lacks in his everyday life. Unfortunately, he falls into a harmful loop of becoming entirely dependent on these substances to even function normally, experiencing frequent outbursts and waves of depression without them. Mihai, whom is closest to Riley out of the three, tries his best to support him through frequent hangouts, accidentally neglecting time with both Elena and Konstantin in the process. Through Riley’s manipulative behaviour, mihais empathy is taken advantage of, and he begins to get into harmful substances with Riley. Due to Riley’s destructive behaviour, enhanced by the substance abuse, he had burnt all bridges with konstantin and Elena. He had hurt them in ways that simply could not be forgiven In Riley’s jumbled mind, mihais requests or suggestions to leave and hangout with the others (Kostya and Elena, whom he’d now become deeply bitter with) was seen as betrayal. He would deploy tactics such as artificial love, threatening self harm, blaming his mental health, sympathy baiting, etc. All in a keep Mihai close to him, as he was the only person Riley had left. This entire saga would last for around 2 years before Mihai was finally in the right mental, state to leave Riley for good. During those 2 years, Elena and Konstantin would devote themselves to Mihai, slowly weaning him off of Riley’s influence. Those 2 years would be the darkest moments of Mihai’s life, spanning from age 17-19, the after-effects of the drugs + Riley’s influence lingering for the rest of his life. Part 2 later
