Calling you to Back to Back — a new backend conference from engineers for engineers ✨
Latency grows, bottlenecks pop up where you don't expect, and a year-old architectural decision is echoing today. Familiar situation? Just about this — Back to Back. Back to the practical backend and its real challenges: failure of sustainability, scaling and architectural solutions.
The Architecture & Performance track will be held in Yerevan and will focus on performance, architectural approaches, and real-world production challenges. It will feature presentations by international practicing engineers.
🔴 Bruce Momjan, Vice President and Postgres Evangelist, will present "The Amazing World of WAL." 🔴 Mons Anderson, Solution Architect at Exness, will discuss "From 2⁶⁴ and Beyond: Modern Approaches to Distributed ID Algorithms." Additionally, there will be live discussions with experts who build backends on a daily basis.📍 We will meet offline on August 1 in Yerevan. An online broadcast will also be available. It is important to remember that the event will be held in English. Register using the link, as the number of seats is limited!
| 2 | We invite you to a new Dev-Breakfast on July 18 ☕️
It's been a year since we switched to new development tools. Have we started delivering features faster, reviewing and reviewing incidents, or have we just changed the processes?
🔍 Over a cup of coffee, we will honestly discuss how to objectively evaluate development performance: which metrics really reflect the result, how to correctly compare "before" and "after" and not slip into control for the sake of the measurements themselves.
No reports or presentations, just business—related conversation and useful networking.

| 4 | How AI Agents are Rewriting the Rules of Cybersecurity? 👀
The recent session at Yandex Hall on June 25 tackled one of the most critical and complex topics in tech today: the clash between artificial intelligence and defense systems.
🔴 Vaagn Toukharian (Principal Engineer at Qualys and Adjunct Lecturer at AUA) explored how modern AI agents are now capable of automating a hacker’s cognitive loop at machine speed.
During his talk, Vaagn examined real-world containment failures and contextual poisoning techniques to demonstrate how rapidly the threat landscape is evolving. He emphasized that relying solely on semantic guardrails is no longer enough for businesses and developers. Instead, the industry must shift its focus toward building structural, secure-by-design defenses integrated directly into the system's architecture.

| 5 | Missed the Multi-Agent AI Systems Workshop? Catch up on the highlights 👀
On June 20, Yandex Hall Armenia hosted a hands-on workshop together with GDG Yerevan on building multi-agent AI systems on Google Cloud.
Participants didn’t just listen to talks — they explored how AI agents can communicate, use tools, work with memory, and be deployed as part of a practical cloud-based system. Quick key takeaways:
↘️ Rohan Singh showed how Google Cloud, Cloud Run, and Vertex AI can be used to deploy and run agent-based systems in a practical way.
↘️ Armen Vardanyan broke down the agentic layer: tool calling, workflows, orchestration, and how multiple agents can collaborate inside one system.
↘️ Vadim Patsev shared insights on agent memory and context engineering, including what should be stored, how memory can stay useful over time, and where RAG or simpler storage approaches make sense.
During the hands-on part, participants worked with a prepared repository, configured the system, and extended it with their own custom agent ideas using TypeScript.
Big thanks to our speakers, participants, GDG Yerevan, and everyone who helped make this workshop happen.

| 7 | Kicking off our next ML OpenTalk on June 25 at Yandex Hall 🌸
It is a pleasure to welcome Vaagn Toukharian, Principal Engineer at Qualys to explore AI security.
About the talk 💬
This session dives deep into the dual nature of AI security: how hackers break into LLM-powered agents, and how they use those same models to launch automated attacks. We will look at the basic risks of LLMs and the new dangers that arise when AI systems act on their own or connect to other tools.
Agenda ⏰
• 18:30 – 19:00 | Guest Arrival
• 19:00 – 20:00 | Talk & Q&A
• 20:00 – 21:00 | Networking
📍 Location: Yandex Hall, 35 Moskovyan Street

| 8 | Missed the Yandex Armenia AI Meetup? Catch Up on the Highlights ⭐️
Yandex Hall brought together experts from AliceAI, NVIDIA, ITMO, YSDA, YerevaNN, and YSU to discuss the future of AI, robotics, and LLMs. Quick key takeaways:
🔴 Bulat Useinov explained why LLM reward metrics must evolve together with product logic and user experience, as they directly shape model behavior.
🔴 Dmitry Duka dove into Physical AI and how platforms like NVIDIA Cosmos generate physically grounded synthetic data for autonomous systems.
🔴 Sergey Kolyubin broke down embodied intelligence, highlighting the need for physically consistent data and spatial understanding in robotics.
🔴 Aleksey Tolstikov shifted focus to education, noting that in the AI era, the ultimate skill is learning how to think, question, and build independent judgment.
Panel discussion moderated by Hrant Khachatrian tied it all together. The experts debated the infrastructure needed for AI to operate in the real world, touching on sim-to-real transfer, VLA models, and physical accuracy.

| 12 | How ML Is Preventing Road Accidents and Transforming Industrial Diagnostics 🟣
Last week at Yandex Hall, we explored how machine learning is already shaping industries and city infrastructure:
📌 Greg Arutiunian (Sr. Manager, Algorithm Engineering) talked about how Augury uses Metaflow in its research and MLOps infrastructure to improve machine health diagnostics. The team reduced model retraining time from weeks to hours and improved model quality with standardized training flows and LLM-based label curation.
📌 Nikolai Inkatov (Director of Technology Development, Yandex Transport) presented a production ML system designed to help cities prevent road accidents before they happen. The system combines accelerometer data, traffic flow, UGC reports, and weather forecasts to generate risk scores for city intersections.
