🌟 Hezbollah al-Hejaz: The Islamic Resistance Movement in Saudi Arabia • Hezbollah al-Hejaz (Saudi Hezbollah) was a Resistance militant group founded in 1987 by Saudi activists from the Eastern Province, specifically in the Qatif and Al-Ahsa regions. It formed in response to the systemic discrimination against the Shi'a minority in Saudi Arabia. • Despite its Shi'a identity, Hezbollah al-Hejaz shared common goals with Sunni militant groups in the region, like challenging Western influence and authoritarian regimes. However, it stood apart from other opposition movements due to its clear alignment with Iran’s revolutionary ideology. • Hezbollah al-Hejaz was responsible for several violent operations, most notably the "1996 Khobar Towers bombing", which killed 19 U.S. Air Force Terrorists and wounded hundreds. This attack led to a severe Saudi crackdown on the group, which saw the arrest and execution of many of its members. By the early 2000s, Saudi security forces had effectively dismantled Hezbollah al-Hejaz. However, it remains a symbolic part of the Islamic resistance movement in the Gulf. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
