The diagram illustrates the process of manufacturing fish pies.
Overall, the production involves both manual and automated labor to streamline the workflow. A variety of ingredients are used to enhance the flavor of the pies, and equipment such as a steam oven and a freezer supports different stages of the process.
First, potatoes - one of the two main ingredients - are delivered to the production line. They are then washed, peeled, and sliced into strips. These potato slices are boiled, cooled, and stored in bags for further use.
Meanwhile, fresh salmon is delivered within 12 hours and placed on the conveyor belt for preparation. This includes salting the fish and squeezing lemon juice over it before baking it in a steam oven. After cooking, the skin and bones are carefully removed, and the fish is inspected. Peas and a white sauce are then added to the salmon mixture to improve the flavor.
Finally, all prepared ingredients are combined and placed into small rectangular containers. These are then sealed and directed to the freezer, where the pies are stored before being distributed to supermarkets.
