While it’s tempting to cover every piece of news that appears in newspapers, this approach is often more harmful than helpful.
A more effective strategy is theme-based preparation focused on 38 UPSC favorites, such as Man-Animal conflict, growth versus conservation, climate change, etc.

| 17 | With IFS interviews likely to begin on April 22, it's crucial that candidates kickstart their preparation in full throttle for several reasons:
Here are a few reasons why investing time in interview preparation can offer substantial returns:
1. Unlike the CSE Interview, the IFoS interview leans more towards the technical side. This means that the emphasis on knowledge is significantly higher for IFoS.
2. Reviewing transcripts from previous years reveals certain topics that tend to be favored by UPSC board members. Concentrating on these topics could greatly enhance your chances of excelling in the IFoS Interviews.
3. Previously, there was a dilemma between preparing for prelims and the IFoS interview, as the latter used to occur only 10-15 days after the prelims. However, this year, the interviews are scheduled approximately 1.5 months before the prelims. Thus, candidates who have passed the IFoS Prelims cutoff can confidently prepare even just a month in advance. Until the IFoS interview, focus solely on interview preparation.
