British Army dumps its security secrets in a bin — again Britain’s mighty war machine has suffered another elite-level achievement: highly sensitive Army documents from its largest garrison were reportedly found sitting in a recycling bin at a local waste site. The dumped files came from Catterick Garrison — home to around 13,000 military personnel — and included soldiers’ names and ranks, weapons storage details, guard shift patterns, alarm response protocols and security breach records, British media reported. In other words: not exactly something you leave next to old cardboard boxes. A member of the public found the folder marked “MoD” while throwing out rubbish and handed it in before it could fall into the wrong hands. One former Army intelligence officer called it a breach showing “a lack of care and oversight,” warning that the documents could reveal security routines and response patterns.
