How to Find Investments Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of messages in my bot asking, “How can we find investors for a project at the zero stage?” So, I decided to write this out so I don’t have to explain it from scratch every time. Here’s the scenario: You have a brilliant new project—maybe it’s a new tap app in Telegram (or anything else, even a shawarma stand on the corner). Objective: Find investors who will fund it because right now you only have 1,000 Notcoins and big hopes of becoming a billionaire before the New Year! Who do investors typically give money to? 1. Experienced entrepreneurs who have already built a successful business and are likely to do it again. They are trusted based on their track record. 2. Those who have a small, functioning business and have a plan to scale it multiple times with the help of investments. In this case, it’s usually clear to investors: we invest X amount of money, and we get 2-3-10-100X in return. 3. Those who have a great idea in a very hyped market (AI a year ago, tapal apps three months ago). The market is growing like crazy, everyone is making money, investors are losing their minds, and they want to join the party too. If you don’t fit into any of the above categories, the only type of investors available to you is called FFF (Friends, Family, and Fools—your homework is to find who they are). If you don’t even have this option, your best bet is to gain experience for the first category: join a fast-growing project and become a leader there. If it becomes well-known, this experience will also count when attracting money, especially if you’re part of a whole team like that. Simply put, a team of people who were leaders at, say, Facebook, might be able to secure funding for a project like TON or something similar. What’s Happening in Tap Apps Over the past month, so much has happened in the telegram app market that I decided to take some time to reflect and share my conclusions with you. Obviously, the main news is the arrest of Pavel Durov and the uncertainty it brings to the future of Telegram. What if the (unlikely) scenario happens where he is imprisoned for a long time? Clearly, Telegram won’t be the same, and what will happen with its cryptocurrency is even less clear. As for TON and the entire ecosystem, it’s almost too unsettling to think what happens if Telegram were to suddenly shut down. But all of this is still purely theoretical. In practice, almost all tap apps have seen rapid declines throughout August. Dogs grew due to its listing and a few other apps aggressively acquiring users also saw some growth. It’s clear that people are tired of tapping in countless apps hoping for a listing (which is also unlikely). The DOGS listing slightly revived the market, but nowhere near the level that Notcoin did. What’s next? Most of those who entered the tap app market by chance and without experience will likely close down fairly soon (within 2-3 months). Serious players with resources will reformat their apps into games, gambling, and other long-term sustainable mechanics. There will definitely be new and exciting projects! What does all this mean for you as users of tap apps? First, lower your expectations of income—if something does drop, it will feel like a great win, but if not—no big deal. If you’ve already mentally spent this money on something, the disappointment could be quite unpleasant. Secondly, there are already clear patterns of successful projects—those who are generous with their users, have millions of users, and some connection to Telegram. How to Start a Business on Telegram Lately, I’ve been having quite a few calls with people who want to create a tap game on Telegram. Usually, they don’t have any resources or ideas, just a feeling that everything is booming on Telegram right now. It’s not.
