What happened in Hormuz in the past 48 hours:
1- A drone targeted the Singaporean-flagged ship M/V Ever Lovely on June 25 while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz near Oman.
Reports say the IRGC instructed ships to pass through the strait from the Iranian side, not the Omani side.
2- Today, CENTCOM announced it had carried out airstrikes on Iran:
“U.S. aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites after Iran hit M/V Ever Lovely on June 25 with a one-way attack drone.”
3-IRGC released a statement saying it had targeted U.S. military positions in response to the American airstrikes.
IRGC: “In response to this aggression, the IRGC Navy targeted the positions of the U.S. military in the region.
Under Article 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding, arrangements for controlling transit through the Strait of Hormuz are the responsibility of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
