⚡️Press statement issued by the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Gaza: The General Directorate of Civil Defense expresses its strong condemnation and denunciation of the failure of some international institutions and committees operating in the Gaza Strip to assume their humanitarian and moral responsibilities and fulfill the humanitarian and relief obligations entrusted to them in the Gaza Strip. Our competent authority repeatedly attempted to communicate with the Egyptian Committee to implement what had previously been agreed regarding its participation with heavy equipment to recover the bodies of martyrs from beneath the rubble of houses where work is possible. Unfortunately, these efforts were met with "procrastination and delay," leading to the postponement of our program to recover the bodies. The continued failure of the Egyptian Committee and some international institutions to fulfill their humanitarian obligations, or their selective approach to humanitarian needs, directly affects the ability of Civil Defense crews to carry out their duties, worsens the suffering of citizens, and delays the recovery of missing bodies. International humanitarian law obliges all humanitarian actors to operate in accordance with the principles of humanity, neutrality, non-discrimination, and non-selectivity, in a manner that ensures support and services reach the bodies working to protect civilians and their property, away from any political or administrative considerations. We call on international institutions to review their positions, urgently fulfill their humanitarian obligations, and provide the necessary support to ensure the continuation of Civil Defense services, which have become a vital lifeline for citizens amid the war of extermination and the humanitarian disasters resulting from it in the Gaza Strip.
