As stated by Riccardo Bonadio in a recent interview, this will be his last season before becoming a full-time tennis coach. Consequently, this will be one of his last chances to give his best in an Italian home tournament to join at least the main draw in Sassuolo Challenger. I already talked a lot about him previously, and he is one of my favourite players in the Challenger Tour mostly due to his one-handed backhand and his classy style. As he comes from his two best seasons (2022 - #187 and 2023 - #218), this one (2024 - actually #352) was more difficult to him due to some minor injuries in the first months of 2024. On the other hand there is the Argentinian Federico Gomez, who less than a week ago had to quit Lyon Challenger tournament due to injury. Yesterday he won easily against Giacomini (mediocre player, low ITF level), and he is having the best season of his career (actually #288, best ranking): clay specialist like Riccardo, but way less experience than the Italian. Plus, the Argentinian backhand is one of his Achilles heel and I think that a more complete and experienced player like Bonadio knows hows to take advantage of it. Due to all these circumstances, I see the Italian slightly favoured. My fair odds = 2.10 - 1.66
