TOPIC: Nowadays, more and more people decide to have children later in their life. What do you think are the reasons for this? Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages? It is increasingly becoming common that many people delay parenthood until later stages of their lives. In my view, career and academic goals of people usually incentivize people to have children later in their lives. However, I firmly believe that the drawbacks of this growing tendency can far outweigh the disadvantages for several reasons related to potential health risks for women and shorter time spent with children. One of the primary reasons of delaying parenthood is arguably people’s academic pursuits and career aspirations. Undoubtedly, many people today want to grow in their career latter or build successful academic career. Hence, they are often reluctant to focus on family problems, including upbringing a child. This can explain why academic pursuits and career goals can deter people from having children in the early stages of their lives. Another potential reason of deferring parenthood is people’s willingness to achieve financial stability. It should be noted that having children usually entail potential extra spendings for the needs of children. This is why many people often try to improve their financial situation even before getting married let alone having children. For instance, in Uzbekistan, almost 70% of young individuals do not marry until they become financially independent. Therefore, reaching financial freedom before having children can be considered one of the potential reasons behind late parenthood. Despite all these efforts mentioned above can lead to certain positive outcomes, the negative repercussions of late parenthood can be far more significant for several reasons. The first reason is that parents cannot spend as much time as they want with their children if they have children later in their lives. While achieving career aspirations, academic pursuits, or better financial footing can lead to feelings of satisfaction and better quality of life, parents may suffer from not spending sufficient time with their children at the end of their lives. Potential health challenges for women while giving birth is the second problem. It is a fact that childbearing is a risky for each woman, and even some end up with death. According to studies conducted by scientists worldwide, this risk increases as women age. Thus, if woman delay childbearing, this may give rise to potential health risks and even increased risk of death wild giving child. In conclusion, there are several culprits behind late parenthood. Among these, achieving career goals, academic aspirations and financial stability are potentially common ones. Nonetheless, the negative consequences of this trend can be far greater than the positives, since this can shorten time with children and pose potential health risks, even death, for women.

Task 2: In many societies, there is a growing emphasis on sustainable living and reducing environmental impact. What are the challenges of adopting a sustainable lifestyle? What practical actions can individuals take to contribute to sustainability? The proposals associated with shifting towards sustainable lifestyle and minimizing environmental impact has gained public attention across various societies in recent years. While this tendency may pose certain problems such as financial burden and inconveniences of breaking ingrained habits in many people’s lives, individuals, through reducing personal energy consumption and transitioning to renewable energy sources, can make meaningful contribution to environmental sustainability. One of the primary challenges of adopting a sustainable living may be financially burdening for some. To elaborate, eco-friendly products are usually more expensive than their conventional counterparts worldwide, potentially hindering lower-income families in their efforts to adopting sustainable lifestyle. For instance, a study conducted by Environmental Working Group found that organic produce can cost up to 47% more than conventionally grown fruits and vegetables. This is why there may be certain issues correlated with economic barriers on the way to the transitioning to a sustainable living. Another problem of shifting towards a sustainable lifestyle is the significant behavioral change required. Due to the convenience of using conventional products, such as plastic products, people may find it difficult to alter their established habits, prioritizing convenience over environmental considerations. Therefore, people’s established habits may also impede a general transition to environmentally friendly products. With regard to the individual efforts to mitigate environmental issues, reducing daily energy consumption can be the first efficient way to do this. It is obvious that household energy consumption can also contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, if individuals by switching off the electrical household appliances or renewing them with energy-efficient modes, lower the amount of energy they use at home, this can decrease their individual carbon footprint. The second practical action individuals can take to alleviate environmental issues is the transition to the usage of renewable energy sources. Take Germany as an example. This is because Germany has demonstrated the feasibility of widespread adoption of solar energy use, significantly lowering greenhouse gas emissions. This is why utilization of renewables can help individuals preserve the environment to a certain degree. In conclusion, while transitioning towards sustainable living and reducing environmental impact, individuals may need to deal with certain difficulties such ass financial hurdles and changing established habits. Nevertheless, minimization of energy consumption and utilization of renewables can lead individuals to environmental preservation. 377 words

### Topic-Based Vocabulary for Air Pollution in Tashkent: 1. Air Quality Index (AQI) - A measure used to communicate how polluted the air currently is or how polluted it is forecast to become. 2. Smog - A type of air pollution that is a mixture of smoke and fog, typically seen in urban areas. 3. Emissions - Pollutants released into the air from vehicles, factories, and other sources. 4. Particulate Matter (PM2.5 and PM10) - Tiny particles in the air that reduce visibility and cause health problems. 5. Industrial Pollution - Pollution caused by industrial activities such as manufacturing and energy production. 6. Respiratory Issues - Health problems related to breathing, often exacerbated by polluted air. 7. Vehicle Exhaust - Pollution emitted from cars, trucks, and buses. 8. Urbanization - The process by which cities grow and higher population densities lead to increased pollution. 9. Environmental Regulations - Laws and rules aimed at reducing pollution. 10. Sustainable Practices - Actions taken to maintain environmental balance and reduce pollution. ### IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer: Describe a place you've visited that has been affected by air pollution You should say: - where it is - when you visited this place - what kinds of air pollution you saw there - and explain how this place was affected --- One place that I visited which has been significantly affected by air pollution is Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan. Tashkent is a vibrant city known for its mix of modern and Soviet-era architecture, bustling bazaars, and rich cultural history. However, it has also been grappling with the challenge of air pollution. I visited Tashkent in the summer of 2023. The trip was part of a cultural exchange program, and I was eager to explore the city's many attractions. Unfortunately, the air quality during my visit was quite poor. The Air Quality Index (AQI) readings were often in the unhealthy range, primarily due to high levels of particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) in the air. The types of air pollution I observed in Tashkent were mainly due to vehicle exhaust and industrial emissions. The city has a large number of vehicles on the road, many of which are older models that emit significant amounts of pollutants. Additionally, there are several industrial areas around the city, and the emissions from these factories contribute heavily to the smog and haze that often blanket the city. The impact of this air pollution on Tashkent is quite profound. The smog reduces visibility and obscures the beautiful views of the city's skyline and nearby mountains. More importantly, the health of the residents is affected, with many people experiencing respiratory issues such as asthma and bronchitis. During my visit, I noticed many locals wearing masks to protect themselves from the polluted air, and there were frequent advisories on local media about limiting outdoor activities on days when pollution levels were particularly high. In conclusion, while Tashkent is a city with a lot to offer in terms of culture and history, the issue of air pollution poses a significant challenge. Efforts are being made to improve air quality through environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices, but there is still a long way to go. My visit to Tashkent was eye-opening and highlighted the importance of addressing air pollution to protect both the environment and public health.

TOPIC: Some people think that interviews are not reliable way for hiring employees. It is important to apply other methods for this. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Interviews are considered as an unreliable method of selecting employees by some people. Thus, they propose that it is crucial to utilize other alternative approaches while hiring employees. I totally agree with this viewpoint for several reasons correlated with suspicions about job applicants and personal biases of a hiring manager. Firstly, to be employed, job applicants may lie to the hiring managers. It is human nature that humans sometimes need to deceive others to reach their goals. This is why there may not be any exception when vetting potential job applicants. It can be proven by research that showed 80% of the applicants lie during job interviews. Thus, to prevent incorrect job-hiring decisions, alternative methods of hiring employees need to be implemented. Another reason is associated with implicit biases, which can hinder hiring managers in making accurate assumptions about job applicants. It is usually common for many hiring managers that they often make assessments about job applicants, depending on their looking and appearance which cannot have anything to do with actual performance. This is arguably always the case unless they examine what capabilities the job applicants have. This is why it would be better to apply new methods of hiring employees instead of organizing job interviews. Advocates of job interviews may organize that businesses can ensure soft skills of job applicants. Admittedly, although the in-person interviews are often imperfect, they can help employers to make sure whether the applicants possess good social and interpersonal skills, which are arguably vital in teamwork. However, I would argue that introducing new ways, such as auditions and job-reliant assignments, can not only prevent erroneous assumptions but also provide employers with the opportunity to have a conversation with the applicants. This means that employers, by designing new methods, can have the opportunity to ensure holistic abilities of the applicants as well. In conclusion, the job interviews may lead to incorrect information about and incorrect assumptions about job applicants. While the in-person interviews can enable hiring managers to decide on those who have good interactive abilities, benefits gained by the implementation of new hiring methods can include this advantage as well on top of other benefits. 360 words

Online education has revolutionized the landscape of learning, offering numerous advantages that often surpass the benefits of traditional face-to-face teaching. With its unparalleled flexibility, accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and innovative use of technology, online education has proven to be a superior mode of learning in many respects. This essay will argue that the benefits of online education significantly outweigh those of face-to-face teaching. Firstly, online education provides unmatched flexibility, allowing students to learn at their own pace and on their own schedule. This is particularly beneficial for individuals who have work commitments, family responsibilities, or other time constraints. For instance, many working professionals pursue online degrees or courses to enhance their skills without having to take a break from their careers. A report by the U.S. Department of Education highlights that online learning enables students to balance their studies with other obligations, resulting in higher completion rates compared to traditional education models. This flexibility is a key advantage that makes online education a preferred choice for many learners. Secondly, online education offers accessibility to a vast array of resources and courses that might not be available locally. Students from remote or underserved areas can access high-quality education from top institutions around the world. For example, platforms such as Coursera and edX provide courses from universities such as Harvard, Stanford, and MIT, making world-class education accessible to anyone with an internet connection. This democratization of education breaks down geographical barriers and ensures that students everywhere have the opportunity to learn from the best. Therefore, the accessibility afforded by online education significantly enhances learning opportunities for a global audience. Moreover, online education is often more cost-effective than traditional face-to-face teaching. The absence of commuting, accommodation, and campus facility costs makes online courses more affordable. Additionally, many online programs offer free courses or financial aid options. For instance, the University of the People, an accredited online university, offers tuition-free degrees, making higher education accessible to students from diverse economic backgrounds. This affordability makes online education a viable option for many who might otherwise be unable to pursue further education. Hence, the cost-effectiveness of online education is a significant benefit that makes it a preferable choice for many students. Furthermore, the use of advanced technology in online education enhances the learning experience. Interactive tools, multimedia content, and artificial intelligence can create engaging and personalized learning environments. For example, adaptive learning technologies used by platforms such as Khan Academy tailor educational content to the individual needs of students, ensuring a more effective learning process. Additionally, online forums and discussion boards facilitate collaborative learning and networking opportunities, allowing students to engage with peers and instructors worldwide. This innovative use of technology makes online education not only more engaging but also more effective in catering to individual learning styles. In conclusion, the benefits of online education, including its flexibility, accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and innovative use of technology, clearly outweigh those of traditional face-to-face teaching. By providing students with the ability to learn at their own pace, access top-tier educational resources, save on costs, and benefit from advanced technological tools, online education offers a superior learning experience. Thus, it is evident that the advantages of online education make it a more effective and desirable mode of learning for a diverse range of students.
