FAKE NEWS ALERT: JAMB REMAINS THE SOLE AUTHORIZED BODY FOR TERTIARY ADMISSIONS IN NIGERIA SAYS HM MINISTER DR MARUF TUNJI ALAUSA The attention of the Federal Ministry of Education has been drawn to a misleading publication circulating in some newspapers and online platforms, falsely claiming that the Ministry has announced that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is no longer required for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, wishes to categorically state that this report is false, baseless, and did not originate from the Federal Ministry of Education. At no point did the Ministry issue or authorize any statement suggesting that JAMB is no longer mandatory for admission into tertiary institutions. For the avoidance of doubt, JAMB remains the statutory and legally empowered body responsible for conducting entrance examinations and coordinating admissions into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

*🚨 JUST IN: FG REVISES ADMISSION GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY INTO HIGHER INSTITUTIONS* 🎓 The Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved a major reform of the entry requirements into tertiary institutions across the country. This new policy, championed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, aims to expand access to higher education and promote inclusive learning under the Renewed Hope Agenda. According to Dr. Alausa, the reform was long overdue, as many qualified candidates were previously denied admission due to outdated entry requirements. Out of over 2 million UTME candidates yearly, only about 700,000 secure admission — a gap the new guidelines seek to close by making the process more inclusive while maintaining academic standards. 🔹 *KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NEW ADMISSION GUIDELINES* The Revised National Guidelines for Entry into Nigerian Tertiary Institutions apply to universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and Innovation Enterprise Academies (IEAs) as follows: 🏛️ *UNIVERSITIES* 📍Minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language, obtained in not more than two sittings. 📍Mathematics is compulsory for Science, Technology, and Social Science courses. 🏫 *POLYTECHNICS* 📍A. National Diploma (ND) 📍Minimum of four (4) credit passes in relevant subjects in not more than two sittings. 📍English Language is required for non-science courses. 📍Mathematics is mandatory for science-related courses. 📍B. Higher National Diploma (HND) 📍Minimum of five (5) credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in relevant subjects. 🎓 *COLLEGES OF EDUCATION* 📍A. Degree (B.Ed) Programs 📍Minimum of five (5) credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, as applicable to the course of study. B. *NCE PROGRAMS* 📍Minimum of four (4) credit passes in relevant subjects. 📍English Language is compulsory for Arts and Social Sciences. 📍Mathematics is required for Science, Vocational, and Technical Education. 🧠 *INNOVATION ENTERPRISE ACADEMIES (IEAS)* 📍Will now adopt the same entry standards as Polytechnics (ND level). 📍The National Innovation Diploma (NID) has been abolished and replaced with the National Diploma (ND) to ensure uniformity and credibility. The NBTE will re-accredit all IEAs nationwide, and those that fail to transition to ND standards will be de-accredited. 🔹 *IMPACT OF THE REFORM* This reform is expected to increase tertiary admission slots by 250,000–300,000 annually, giving more Nigerian youths a fair chance at higher education.
