WWE (https://metro.co.uk/tag/wwe/?ico=auto_link_entertainment_P1_LNK1) superstar Piper Niven had the perfect way to respond after some fans tried to derail her big moment on SmackDown.
The Scottish wrestler, who will take on Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship next weekend in Glasgow at Clash At The Castle (https://metro.co.uk/2024/05/28/wwe-clash-castle-preview-drew-mcintyre-can-rewrite-history-20925073/), proved her potential as a major force on Friday night despite some of the crowd belittling her.
Despite ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin creating them over two decades ago, the ‘What?’ chants he made popular still ring out in stadiums across the United States.
Plenty of fans have moved on, but others still attempt to distract from what the superstars are saying by shouting it in between lines in their promos.
Although former champ Piper (https://metro.co.uk/2024/01/23/wwe-star-suffers-wardrobe-malfunction-cheeky-response-20156486/)’s heartfelt words resonated with viewers around the world, the ‘What?’ chants started, and she joined the long list of superstars finding creative ways to shut them down.
In an absolutely savage moment, she simply said, ‘Inbreds say what?’ without missing a beat, and unfortunately for the Kentucky crowd, they weren’t quite fast enough to avoid her trap.

Piper’s little smirk said it all, and fans online were delighted with her response – but most people agreed the chant itself is very tired by this point.
‘Good way to respond to those chants. Sick of Americans being disrespectful to anybody who has an accent with the USA or WHAT chants,’ wrote @Cory_Hays407, while @DreamCJen added: ‘Piper is so good. She deserves so much better.’

Thankfully for fans further afield, the chant isn’t quite so prevalent, and the already-iconic crowd at Backlash (https://metro.co.uk/2024/05/04/wwe-fans-shocked-formal-safety-warning-electric-france-show-20773993/) in Lyon, France has shown exactly how some creativity can lead to an electric atmosphere.
With WWE heading to Glasgow next weekend, fans in the US and across the globe are anticipating a break from the ‘what?’ chants.
‘Good. I love when wrestlers get them like that. Good thing we won’t have to witness it at CATC. Love them international crowds,’ said @SamirParvez.

Piper, who moved to the US full time three years ago, previously admitted there is definitely a big difference being stateside compared to her homeland.
‘It’s such a culture shock being here in America. You think because they’re both English-speaking countries, “It’ll be fine, it’ll be the same” – it’s absolutely not the same,’ she exclusively told Metro.co.uk shortly after her Raw debut (https://metro.co.uk/2021/11/09/wwe-doudrop-wants-randy-orton-dream-match-and-mens-royal-rumble-win-15572144/)in 2021.
She said at the time: ‘I’m getting used to it. I’m getting used to the crazy Florida drivers, all the different sorts of things. It’s absolutely mental, but I’m really enjoying it.’

Despite Paul trying to make the best of his boxing career, Shields has not been impressed by his skills in the ring.
She believes that he would not be able to beat her in a fight and has challenged him to a “scrap”.

Four years ago, she claimed she would “whoop” his “ass” even if she weighed less than him.

Shields is recognised as the best fighter women’s boxing has to offer.
She has been on a winning streak since turning pro after claiming Gold medals at the London and Rio de Janeiro Olympic games.
She has won titles across multiple weight categories and is aiming to progress further.
She is set to fight for the WBC heavyweight championship against Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse on July 27.

15 Iconic 80s motor once bought by Wheeler Dealers’ host Mike Brewer for less than £10k can now be worth SEVEN times more
A MUCH-loved motor that’s synonymous with the 1980s was once bought by Mike Brewer for an episode of Wheeler Dealers for just £10,000.
But the retro sports car that’s become a cultural icon is worth much, much more today.

In 2011, for a special episode of the hit motoring show, Mike (https://www.thesun.co.uk/who/mike-brewer/) travelled to California to pick up a DMC DeLorean – one of the most recognisable and distinctive cars ever made.
The 80s set of wheels is of course famous for its appearance in the Back to the Future films – starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd – where it’s transformed into a time machine.
As a result, it’s wildly popular among collectors and today they’re worth huge amounts of money (https://www.thesun.co.uk/topic/money/).
In the episode (https://www.thesun.co.uk/topic/wheeler-dealers-tv-show/), Mike buys the DeLorean for just $15,500, which is roughly £9,650, but also pays out roughly £5,000 on repairs.
This includes the removal of dents to the car’s famous stainless steel panels and replacements for the flywheel oil seal.
Inside, it gets revamped seat covers and new carpets, a new gear shift gaiter, and the faulty window motors are replaced.
Even the faulty air-con system is fixed with a change of a blown fuse.
He also pays £2,500 to have it imported to the UK – which includes import tax and shipping – as well another £1,000 for travel expenses.
Overall, the final cost to Mike is £14,715, and he eventually sells it at a DeLorean gathering in Norfolk at £500 over the asking price at £20,500 – which meant he made a tidy profit of £5,785.
However, good quality DeLoreans can now sell for up to £70,000 at classic car auctions (https://www.thesun.co.uk/topic/auctions/) – with one currently available for €79,950, or roughly £68,000, via Cars & Classic (https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1666963).
The iconic 80s DeLorean, complete with gull-wing doors, stirs the many memories for Back to the Future fans.
First built in 1981, only around 9,000 DeLoreans were made before production was halted in 1983.
It boasts a 2.7-litre V6 engine and could hit 60 mph in 8.8 seconds.
A filthy DeLorean was recently discovered in an old barn, having been left there for over 20 years (https://www.thesun.co.uk/motors/25126176/delorean-car-barn-mice-filthy-restored/) before it was restored.
And elsewhere, Mike Brewer revealed the moment he was forced to say goodbye to a “wonderful” Ford (https://www.thesun.co.uk/motors/28354846/wheeler-dealers-mike-brewer-ford-ranger-raptor/) which he’s replaced with a “jack of all trades”.

17 Incredible moment baby elephant is united with orphan herd after mum abandons him

A baby elephant (https://metro.co.uk/tag/animals/) endured a nearly two-hour flight (https://metro.co.uk/tag/flying/?ico=auto_link_news_P1_LNK1) so he could be rehomed with an orphaned herd after his mum abandoned him.
Bupe the elephant will now be able to ‘forge new friendships’ with the herd, who will become his ‘siblings and support network’ as he builds a life with his new family.

He needed round-the-clock care when he was first found, but started to make a good recovery and heal from his traumas quickly.
In a statement, Game Rangers International said: ‘He was consuming all milk bottles and putting back on lost condition, his wounds were healing well, and he had formed a good bond and gained trust in [keeper] Matthews.’
Following a check from vet Dr Lengwe, the green light was then given for Bupe to be transferred to Lusaka Elephant Nursery to begin his new life.

The decision was made to fly the baby elephant to the nursery as it would be the least stressful way for him to travel.
Global aviation and logistics company ProCharter were chosen to organise Bupe’s flight as they had flown 12 other elephants previously.
With keeper Matthews by his side, Bupe walked comfortably into the loading crate ready to start his journey.
The crate was then driven to Mfuwe Airport where he would be catching his flight.

The Chipembele Wildlife Education Trust said Dr Lengwe gave Bupe a mild sedative to help reduce any anxiety he might feel on the journey – and he also had Matthews with him at all times to help calm him.
The plane touched down at Kaindu Airstrip after one hour and 45 minutes of flying and then it was all hands on deck to get Bupe off the flight. Bupe plus his crate weighed 350kg.
The elephant was then transferred to a rescue trailer, driven the short distance to the nursery and the door was opened.

The trust said in a statement: ‘After experiencing such a significant journey Bupe was nervous and hesitant to leave the trailer, but a bottle of warm milk was all the encouragement he needed, and he readily stepped out and into this new stable and home.
‘Here at the nursery Bupe will really be able to make progress in his recovery as he forges new friendships with the orphaned herd, who will become his siblings and support network as he embarks on the long journey back to the wild where he belongs.’

And the 31-year-old reacted furiously to being replaced by Soufiane Rahimi.
Ziyech threw his arms into the air in anger and trudged off the pitch.
Team-mates like former Wolves (https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/team/1226009/wolverhampton-wanderers/) star Romain Saiss went in for a hug but were brushed aside.

But his strop did not stop there as he took off his boots and slammed them on the floor.

Iga Swiatek (https://metro.co.uk/tag/iga-swiatek/?ico=auto_link_sport_P1_LNK1) dominated Jasmine Paolini in the French Open (https://metro.co.uk/tag/french-open/?ico=auto_link_sport_P1_LNK2) final on Saturday to clinch the title again and ramp up comparisons to legend Rafael Nadal.
The Polish superstar, ranked world No.1, has been an almost unstoppable force on the WTA Tour for years and is known for producing her best tennis on clay courts (https://metro.co.uk/2024/05/24/players-looking-spoil-rafael-nadals-french-open-last-dance-20886377/).
Roland-Garros is the only major tournament played on the clay surface – and of the six times Swiatek has played in the main draw – she’s now landed four titles.
She beat 12th-seed Paolini 6-2 6-1 on court Philippe-Chatrier on Saturday, barely breaking a sweat as she wrapped up the victory to bag her fifth major title in total.
It was Paolini who surprisingly produced the first break of the match in game three of the opening set – but Swiatek responded instantly with a break to love.
Swiatek made it a double break and followed it up with a comfortable hold to lead 5-2, with her third break seeing her wrap up the first set in just 34 minutes.
Her dominance flowed into the second set as an early break and two quick holds saw Swiatek go 3-0 up in a flash.

Another hold and Swiatek’s fifth break of the match saw her lead 5-0 and on the verge of a bagel set but Paolini finally won a game as it eventually ended 6-2 6-1, confirming the 23-year-old’s successful title defence.
Swiatek’s French Open debut saw her reach the fourth round in 2019 before she clinched the trophy in 2020, 2022, 2023 – and remarkably now again in 2024.
She has only ever lost two matches at Roland-Garros and is firmly establishing herself as the ‘Queen of Clay’ in the women’s singles.

‘I’m not saying she’s going to go on and win 14 – that would truly be something. But her domination on this surface has certainly appeared. This season she won Madrid, Rome and now Roland-Garros back-to-back. Phenomenal.’
She still has some way to go to match Nadal’s incredible haul of 14 French Open titles in the men’s singles with the Spaniard famously dubbed the ‘King of Clay’.
But comparisons have already been drawn between Swiatek and Nadal and she was asked about it ahead of Saturday’s final.
‘We’ll see in 14 years if the journey is similar!’ Swiatek said. ‘I mean, that’s obviously really nice for me. I would never expect anybody to compare me to Rafa because for me he’s above everybody, and he’s a total legend.

‘Yeah, as I said, we’ll see in couple of years, but I’m proud of myself that I’m playing consistently here and that I’m mentioned in the same sentence as Rafa. That’s cool.’
Swiatek only dropped one set at the French Open in 2024, which came in her second-round win over four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka.

Paolini made a strong start with an early break to lead 2-1 but was pegged straight back.
In fact, the Italian – making her Grand Slam final debut – lost ten games in a row to go from 2-1 up to 6-2 5-0 down.
A crisp forehand winner secured a hold for 5-1 and avoided the bagel.
But it only delayed the inevitable as Swiatek wrapped up her fifth major win.

The Prince of Wales was among those to pay tribute (https://metro.co.uk/2024/06/02/prince-william-leads-rob-burrow-tributes-rugby-legend-dies-aged-41-20957827/?ico=mosaic_tag) to Burrow upon his passing while many laid flowers outside of the Rhinos’ home ground Headingley and again at Wembley on Saturday in front of the Rugby League Legends statue.
Burrow’s life was celebrated in a number of ways ahead of the final between Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors, with Warrington boss Sam Burgess telling BBC Sport: ‘If you could pin down a week in the calendar – it’s fitting that it’s on the big stage at Wembley.
‘All [his] achievements, not just on the field but off the field, hopefully we can celebrate them in style with a smile on the face and remember him for what a special character he was.
‘Hopefully everyone puts on a great performance. There’s three great matches and [hopefully] we all do him justice.’

Fans took part a minute’s applause during the seventh minute of each of the four finals taking place on Saturday at Wembley.

A minute’s silence was also held just prior to kick-off of both the men’s and women’s final, the latter won by St Helens who defeated Leeds Rhinos 22-0.
‘Once the shock and sadness of Sunday night’s news had sunk in, we recognised the responsibility to provide a fitting celebration of a Rugby League superhero,’ the Managing Director of RL Commercial Rhodri Jones said.
‘We are grateful to BBC Sport and Wembley Stadium for their support – and to all involved with the six clubs and two schools who will be playing at Wembley on Saturday.

That was followed by a season with Ipswich (https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/team/1225846/ipswich-town/), but Carroll’s body was still not right and in the summer of 2022 he opted to take a year out of the game.
He returned to Spurs to train with their U21s and was offered a player-coach role with the team – the same position Tom Huddlestone held at Manchester United for two years (https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/28123353/tom-huddlestone-leaving-man-utd/) until last month.
Now he has revealed to The Athletic (https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5535029/2024/06/06/tom-carroll-tottenham-hotspur-exeter/) he rejected it because he did not feel his playing career was over.
Shortly after that he was approached by Exeter – who he has gone on to thrive with in the third tier this season.

Carroll, now 32, said: “After the game [his Exeter debut], I was like, ‘I’ve missed this feeling’.

“After that game, it made me realise, ‘I can still do this. I still feel good’. So I just wanted to enjoy it and get that buzz back.”
Carroll is pleased he took the year off to re-charge his batteries and is now excited to see what awaits Exeter next season following their 13th place in his opening campaign at the club.
He added: “Having a year out has made me realise that I should try to enjoy it.
“In football, everything goes so quickly that you can get caught up in it. You win a game, you feel great for maybe that evening, and then it’s on to the next one.
“But I wanted to come back in and try and enjoy it as much as I can, and I’ve done that.
“We have got a pretty good squad now, so it’s just about building on that.”

The England (https://metro.co.uk/tag/england/?ico=auto_link_sport_P2_LNK1) Under-21 international joined the Clarets from Mancehster City last summer (https://metro.co.uk/tag/summer/?ico=auto_link_sport_P2_LNK2) but was unable to prevent Vincent Kompany’s now former side avoid relegation.
Trafford’s form deteriorated during the second half of a difficult campaign and was ultimately replaced by Arijanet Muric during the run-in.
A further setback for the 21-year-old arrived earlier this week when Gareth Southgate opted to omit Trafford from his final squad of 26 players (https://metro.co.uk/2024/06/08/englandss-euro-2024-squad-numbers-hints-three-lions-starting-xi-20996084/) ahead of the upcoming European Championships.
Despite a testing six months, Trafford is still regarded as one of English football’s most exciting goalkeeping talents.
Newcastle are keen to strengthen in that department this summer having been forced to contend without Nick Pope for much of last season.
Pope, a former Burnley goalkeeper himself, has damaged his shoulder significantly twice in recent years and Eddie Howe is keen to sign top class competition for one of his key players.
The Magpies had been strongly linked with a move for Arsenal’s out of favour Aaron Ramsdale (https://metro.co.uk/2024/06/07/arsenals-30m-misfit-will-leave-loan-this-summer-club-cant-find-buyer-20992216/) but, according to the Daily Mail, have been put off by the the Gunners’ valuation.

Arsenal had hoped to recoup a large chunk of the £25m they spent on Ramsdale three years ago when they opted to move for the ex-Sheffield United No.1
Should Arsenal fail to receive a suitable offer this summer, they will consider a season-long loan move for the 26-year-old who is firmly behind David Raya in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order.
Arteta, meanwhile, is also prepared to listen to offers for a number of squad players who have fallen out of favour.
Hale End Academy graduates Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson are all likely to move on.
Nketiah is understood to have attracted interest from four Premier League clubs, while Smith Rowe has been heavily coveted by Aston Villa in the past where his former manager, Uani Emery, has just signed a new long-term contract.
Thomas Partey is also likely to depart this summer, while fellow experienced midfielder, Moahamed Elneny, left the club earlier this week after eight years following the expiration of his contract.

Solskjaer has not managed a club since leaving United in November 2021, turning down a number of roles with clubs and national teams (https://metro.co.uk/2024/04/12/man-utd-legend-ole-gunnar-solskjaer-responds-ireland-job-links-20639232/?ico=mosaic_tag)since leaving Old Trafford.
The Norwegian, though, appears to be looking to return to the dugout having just missed out the Besiktas job (https://metro.co.uk/2024/06/05/ole-gunnar-solskjaer-misses-besiktas-confirm-ex-arsenal-star-new-boss-20979714/?ico=mosaic_tag) earlier in the week.

The Foxes are looking for a new boss following the untimely departure of Enzo Maresca (https://metro.co.uk/2024/06/03/leicester-city-take-swipe-enzo-maresca-following-chelsea-move-20962559/?ico=mosaic_tag) who jumped ship to become Chelsea’s new head coach having guided Leicester back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
Solskjaer is said to be highly rated by Leicester chairman Top Srivaddhanaprabha and was under consideration for the job last summer following the departure of Dean Smith.
No concrete talks are said to have taken place, but the Norwegian is expected to feature on the club’s shortlist of replacements for Maresca.

Solskjaer originally took over at United to replace Jose Mourinho (https://www.thesun.co.uk/who/jose-mourinho/) as caretaker in December 2018
The Norwegian initially found great success at Old Trafford, earning a full-time contract before guiding his former side to third and second-place finishes in his two full seasons at the club.
However, after overseeing five defeats in seven Premier League (https://metro.co.uk/tag/premier-league/?ico=auto_link_sport_P10_LNK1) games, he was relieved of his duties following a 4-1 defeat against Watford (https://metro.co.uk/tag/watford-fc/?ico=auto_link_sport_P10_LNK2).
Since September last year, he has been working as a technical observer for UEFA.
Leicester, meanwhile, have reportedly approached former Chelsea boss Graham Potter about their manager vacancy, while Steve Cooper is said to be another name under consideration.

The Scottish wrestler, who will take on Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship next weekend in Glasgow at Clash At The Castle (https://metro.co.uk/2024/05/28/wwe-clash-castle-preview-drew-mcintyre-can-rewrite-history-20925073/), proved her potential as a major force on Friday night despite some of the crowd belittling her.
Despite ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin creating them over two decades ago, the ‘What?’ chants he made popular still ring out in stadiums across the United States.
Plenty of fans have moved on, but others still attempt to distract from what the superstars are saying by shouting it in between lines in their promos.
Although former champ Piper (https://metro.co.uk/2024/01/23/wwe-star-suffers-wardrobe-malfunction-cheeky-response-20156486/)’s heartfelt words resonated with viewers around the world, the ‘What?’ chants started, and she joined the long list of superstars finding creative ways to shut them down.
In an absolutely savage moment, she simply said, ‘Inbreds say what?’ without missing a beat, and unfortunately for the Kentucky crowd, they weren’t quite fast enough to avoid her trap.

Piper’s little smirk said it all, and fans online were delighted with her response – but most people agreed the chant itself is very tired by this point.
‘Good way to respond to those chants. Sick of Americans being disrespectful to anybody who has an accent with the USA or WHAT chants,’ wrote @Cory_Hays407, while @DreamCJen added: ‘Piper is so good. She deserves so much better.’

Thankfully for fans further afield, the chant isn’t quite so prevalent, and the already-iconic crowd at Backlash (https://metro.co.uk/2024/05/04/wwe-fans-shocked-formal-safety-warning-electric-france-show-20773993/) in Lyon, France has shown exactly how some creativity can lead to an electric atmosphere.
With WWE heading to Glasgow next weekend, fans in the US and across the globe are anticipating a break from the ‘what?’ chants.
‘Good. I love when wrestlers get them like that. Good thing we won’t have to witness it at CATC. Love them international crowds,’ said @SamirParvez.

Piper, who moved to the US full time three years ago, previously admitted there is definitely a big difference being stateside compared to her homeland.
‘It’s such a culture shock being here in America. The fight at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas was pushed back after Tyson suffered a health scare (https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/28156864/mike-tyson-medical-emergency-jake-paul/).
Despite Paul trying to make the best of his boxing career, Shields has not been impressed by his skills in the ring.
She believes that he would not be able to beat her in a fight and has challenged him to a “scrap”.

“I don’t think that he’s that good of a boxer.
“I’m never ever going to say or even feel that Jake Paul can beat me in a boxing match because he can’t.”
It is not the first time Shields has called out Paul for a fight.

Four years ago, she claimed she would “whoop” his “ass” even if she weighed less than him.
She said: “I, Claressa Shields, will whoop Jake Paul’s ass.

Shields is recognised as the best fighter women’s boxing has to offer.
She has been on a winning streak since turning pro after claiming Gold medals at the London and Rio de Janeiro Olympic games.
She has won titles across multiple weight categories and is aiming to progress further.
She is set to fight for the WBC heavyweight championship against Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse on July 27.

Aside from the ongoing season review, Gareth Southgate’s status as United’s ‘priority’ target is also causing a delay.
The England manager is said to be interested in the idea of becoming United’s manager but will not contemplate his future or discuss it until after the Euros.
Speaking last month, Southgate addressed the speculation linking him with TenHag’s job and said: ‘I’m not a big gambling man and bookies, they can make their odds but it’s not conversations that’s been had with me.
‘I’ve got one thing to focus on. That’s having as successful a tournament with England as possible. Everything else outside of that is a complete irrelevance to me.’
