📋Commonly used cohesive devices in IELTS writing task 1: 📎However is used to show contrast between two ideas or sentences and highlights this contrast. 📎Although is used to show contrast within a sentence but does not highlight the contrast. 📎While is used in a similar way to although. 📎Furthermore is used to add new information that is even more important than the previous information. 📎Also is used within a sentence to add new information that is similar to the previously mentioned information. 📎First is used to introduce the first step in a process. 📎Initially is used to show you are talking about what happened at the start of something and later changed. 📎Similarly is used to show something followed a similar pattern or trend to something else. 📎In contrast is used to show you are talking about the difference between two things. 📎In comparison is used to show you are comparing two things 📎Meanwhile is used to show something happened or happens at the same time as something else, or to say what happened while waiting for something else to happen.

Here a candidate is being examined for her speaking. I muted her as I could not tolerate her speech and grammar mistakes but her bunch of unnecessary words used in inappropriate places. But she is given 6.5 for her speech at the end. I would have given 3.0 Obvious example of my opinion.
