🇮🇳👾 Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos emerging as hub for cybercrimes targeting Indians In the first four months of 2024, a staggering 46% of cybercrimes in India were traced to sources in Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos. According to Rajesh Kumar, Director General of India's Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, these crimes included: ▪️ 62,500 incidents in the financial sector and 20,000 in the trade sector; ▪️ financial losses of more than $196.8 million, according to The Times of India. In response to this alarming trend, the Centre, with the support of law enforcement agencies, has successfully blocked over 300,000 fraudulent accounts and removed 3,400 pieces of illegal content across platforms in the last four months alone. 🛂 Efforts by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs have also resulted in the repatriation of 360 Indians who had been lured abroad by recruitment agencies to engage in cybercrime activities.
