सेंट मार्टिन द्वीप (St Martin’s Island) ◾️हाल ही में, शेख हसीना ने कथित तौर पर कहा है कि अगर उन्होंने बांग्लादेश का “सेंट मार्टिन द्वीप और बंगाल की खाड़ी अमेरिका को दे दी होती” तो वे सत्ता में बनी रह सकती थीं। ◾️यह द्वीप बंगाल की खाड़ी के उत्तर-पूर्वी क्षेत्र में, बांग्लादेश और म्यांमार की सीमा के पास स्थित है। यह बांग्लादेश के कॉक्स बाज़ार-टेकनाफ़ प्रायद्वीप (Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf peninsula) के दक्षिणी सिरे से नौ किलोमीटर दूर है।

7.3 किलोमीटर लंबा यह द्वीप अधिकतर समतल है और समुद्र तल से 3.6 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है। यह बांग्लादेश का एकमात्र प्रवाल द्वीप है और यह समुद्री कछुओं का प्रजनन स्थल भी है।

◾️इस द्वीप पर लगभग 10,000 लोगों की स्थायी आबादी है । चूंकि यह एक प्रमुख पर्यटक आकर्षण है, इसलिए हर दिन औसतन 10,000 पर्यटक यहां रुकते हैं।
