Wonder how the real rum will stack up to the sugarbeet "rum" in the end, used a similar recipe, the same yeast and will use the same potstill
The smell and taste of sugarcane molasses is a lot more different to sugarbeet molasses than i had expected
Sugarbeet molasses smelled kind of like coffee grounds and tasted rather unpleasant
Sugarcane molasses on the other hand smells and tastes kind of like those very hard liquorice candies minus the anise-like flavor
Listening to sea shanties while making the new rum wash improves the flavor of the final product drastically
