Top 3 Test-Taking Strategies 1) Read the last line first. I always read the question stem’s last sentence before the vignette. It tells me what they’re actually asking (diagnosis, mechanism, next best step). Then I read the vignette with a focused mind. 2) Predict before looking at options. After reading the stem, I pause and try to predict the answer in my head. This prevents me from being trapped by attractive distractors. 3) Eliminate aggressively. Usually 2 options are clearly wrong. I remove them fast. Then I compare the remaining two or three and ask: Which one answers the exact question asked? Which one matches the strongest clue in the vignette?
