2	⚔️ The EGO In the age of TikTok “wisdom,” Instagram “deep” posts, and endless YouTube shorts, it feels like everyone is suddenly an expert on ego. Everywhere you scroll, someone is talking about “my ego,” “your ego,” “kill the ego,” or “protect your ego.” It’s become a trendy buzzword people throw into conversations, captions, and speeches — often without truly knowing what it means. But here’s the truth: most people have no idea what they’re actually talking about. We’ve taken a sacred, ancient concept and turned it into a hashtag. I used to be the same — discussing ego with friends, posting quotes, even debating about it… without ever touching its real meaning. One day, curiosity pushed me to dig deeper. And what I found changed the way I see myself — and how I live. 💡 The Truth That “ego” people talk about today? Islam explained it over 1,400 years ago — long before it became a self-help trend. Its real name carries far more depth: Nafs. Nafs is not some mystical stranger in your head — it’s you. More precisely, the part of you that craves, desires, reacts, and wants to be seen. It’s not inherently evil, nor inherently pure. It’s a tool — and like any tool, its value depends entirely on how it’s used. 🔪 Think of it like a knife: In the hands of a skilled chef, it creates a masterpiece that nourishes. In careless hands, it wounds, harms, or even destroys. The Qur’an describes the nafs in levels — the one that commands wrong, the one that blames itself, and the one at peace. Your journey is moving from the lower states to the highest. Once you see nafs for what it is — not a curse, not a god, but a tool — you stop fearing it… and start mastering it. 🚨 When Nafs Rules You If you let nafs lead without control, it chains you quietly: • You live in endless competition, chasing to look better instead of being better. • You react on impulse, letting emotions decide before reason speaks. • You guard your image more than your soul. • You repeat cycles of pride, jealousy, anger, and stubbornness, calling it “just who I am.” • You waste years walking the wrong road, far from peace. And the scariest part📜? Nafs doesn’t always scream. Sometimes it whispers — telling you your way is right, convincing you that there’s still time. So you delay, you postpone, you “wait for the right moment.” But while you wait, it’s slowly building chains around you… until delay becomes disaster. 🏆 When YOU Rule Nafs If you take control over your ego: • Discipline becomes natural. • Criticism turns into fuel, not a wound. • You stop proving yourself to others and start improving yourself for yourself. • You inspire people far beyond your own circle. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The strong man is not the one who overpowers others. The strong man is the one who controls himself when angry.” Mastery of nafs is rising to the state of peace — where your desires serve you, not rule you. 🎯 The Choice Nafs is the horse. You’re the rider. Let it run wild, and it will throw you. Guide it with wisdom, and it will carry you further than you imagined. It won’t always shout. Sometimes it will softly say, “You have time…” But each delay becomes another link in the chain — until you wake up in the middle of a storm it created, wondering how something so quiet caused so much chaos. Meet Mr. Neil, a 65-year-old native British gentleman, now living in Uzbekistan (yes, you heard that right — and his wife is Uzbek too! 😂). His life story? Pure movie script. 🎬 We sat down at one of the best restaurants in Tashkent. The talk lasted for more than 3 hours — but bro, it felt like 30 minutes. Time flew with laughter, knowledge, and real inspiration. ✈️ From Pilot to Teacher: Mr. Neil’s Unexpected Journey As a kid, he always dreamed of flying. His father was a pilot, so it kinda ran in the blood. He left home early for school, chasing knowledge even if it meant being away from family. In his teens, he got into college and quickly grabbed the chance to become a pilot. Later, he even went to war — not just flying planes, but using them like weapons. Crazy, right? After returning to the UK, he became one of the top names in air safety, visiting 120+ countries. Then came a twist — he moved to Kazakhstan for a job in aviation. But on one flight to Uzbekistan during Covid in 2020, everything changed. He got stuck in Tashkent. But instead of frustration, he found peace. Financially, everything was covered by the UK government — pilots get high-level support abroad. But emotionally… he just clicked with Uzbekistan. 📚 A New Chapter: Teaching in Tashkent One day in a café, someone overheard Mr. Neil speaking pure British English and offered him a job — teaching kids! At first, he didn’t love it. But guess what? Slowly, he started to enjoy helping others grow. He met our bros Davron aka and Umid aka, and after a legendary misunderstanding-turned-deal (😂 imagine agreeing to a collab without knowing it), they officially brought him in. Shoutout to Mr. Ben from Malaysia too — an IELTS 9.0 king who’s basically a native speaker! Now, Mr. Neil is not just teaching — he’s inspiring. 💬 My Question That Shocked Me I asked him: “You've been here for 5 years… Have you ever gone back to the UK? Missed home?” His answer? “No, never.” Why? Because — in his words — “The UK I knew in the 1950s doesn’t exist anymore. But I found that same warmth, attitude, and values here in Tashkent.” I was speechless. 💡 What I Took from This Lunch Life can take you places you never expected. Be flexible, ready to adapt, and open to change. And most importantly: “Stick to your goals.
