Candidates are asked to pick a chit from a bucket, which determines the interview board they will appear before.

Opening Questions
The interview started with basic background questions.
Chairman:
• What are your academic qualifications?
The candidate briefly explained his academic journey including his studies at JNU.
Work Experience Related Questions
Since the candidate was already working in Accounts Service, the board asked several questions related to public finance and budgeting.
• What is your role in the Accounts Service?
• How would you describe the fiscal position of Jammu & Kashmir’s budget — deficit or surplus?
• What are the major revenue sources of Jammu & Kashmir?
• What challenges does J&K face in managing fiscal deficit?
• What reforms would you suggest for revenue augmentation in J&K?
• How important are Centrally Sponsored Schemes for J&K’s finances?
Budget and Fiscal Policy Discussion
The board engaged the candidate in a deeper discussion.
• Why do governments run fiscal deficits?
• Is fiscal deficit always harmful for an economy?
• How should governments balance development expenditure and fiscal discipline?
International Relations & Geopolitics
Questions then shifted towards current geopolitical developments.
• Recently an Iranian warship incident involving the United States was in the news. What do you know about it?
• What are the strategic implications of such incidents?
• What is meant by war ethics?
• How are modern wars different from conventional wars?
Geography & Strategic Location Questions
As the candidate had Geography Optional, the board also explored strategic geography.
• Why is Greenland becoming strategically important in global geopolitics?
• Why are global powers increasingly interested in the Arctic region?
• How is climate change altering geopolitical competition in the Arctic?
