In this build, we have fixed a lot of things — especially the audio mismatch / sampling rate issue. Along with that, we also fixed the words ignore issue, fixed that bug, and fixed the optimization issue that was occurring on some devices.

New Update: This update was released on September 14, 2026.Now, let's check out the log to see what's new.
Talk Forward 26.9.2
Recently Used Apps
• Talk Forward now has its own list of recently used apps, with three customizable actions. The "Previous App" and "Next App" options let you navigate the list using the Alt+Tab shortcut: swipes are sequenced, and the app you land on becomes the most recent. The "Recently Used Apps" option opens the list like a regular Talk Forward menu—you can explore it by tapping, navigate it by swiping, close it by pressing the back button, and it's spoken aloud. Each app in the list offers options to open, pin, and unpin it, as well as its own app info screen. A pinned app tops the list, regardless of whether it was recently used. There are no associated gestures by default: the three actions are at the bottom of the action list.
• The list is monitored only and never queried: The app enters it after remaining in the foreground for approximately one second, preventing the entry of fleeting activities, share lists, and permission request windows. Home screens, the system UI, the active keyboard, and Talk Forward itself do not enter the list. The app continues to function after a restart.
In-App Actions
• Gestures can now perform in-app actions instead of simply opening the app: such as calling a specific contact, opening a specific conversation, or starting a route. Select "In-App Action" from the Gesture Actions menu: Talk Forward will display apps that support this feature, and the app selector itself will open to choose the contact or conversation. The UI design is not guesswork-based, so there will be no issues with the update. Coverage varies by app: On Pixel phones, Contacts, WhatsApp, Maps, Gmail, Docs, and Settings support this feature.
• Fixed an issue: In each app's gesture editor, selecting "Launch App" would store a gesture that did not perform any action.
Vibration
• There is a slider to adjust the strength of each vibration in the gesture reader, from a quarter to twice the normal strength. This slider is located in the Sound and Vibration section, below the Vibration switch. On devices where the vibration strength cannot be changed, the vibration patterns are played as pre-programmed.
Vibration • On-screen Braille can now vibrate, just like on a regular keyboard. Both keyboards share a single setting, renamed "Vibration." Braille cells become more visible as they are pressed more frequently than the keys.
Physical Keyboard
• The Ctrl, Alt, and Windows keys can now be used as a speech-forward modifier, along with the Caps Lock, Insert, and Scroll Lock keys. The left and right buttons remain separate options, so linking them functions as usual. Note that pressing Ctrl interrupts speech, a behavior independent of key mapping, and that Android retains some Windows key shortcuts for itself.
Touch Exploration
• Finger and drag select the same item again. In a content-rich row—a message in a Gmail widget or a notification—Touching Explore selects a portion of the row, its sender, or its subject, while swiping selects the entire row. The next swipe then continues from the selected portion.
The finger no longer falls into empty spaces. Widget margins and the small space between rows are now considered part of the container: crossing them used to interrupt the read message, which repeatedly announced "Gmail." These spaces are now treated as gaps in the read item, not as new elements.
• The announcement is no longer interrupted when the cursor hovers over it on the same item. In the notification panel, a notification used to start reading and then be interrupted after 30 milliseconds by another cursor hovers over the same row—without any audible response.

In this build, we have fixed a lot of things. We fixed the audio pipeline and resolved conflicts in auto language switching for non-Latin languages that share the same Unicode group, like Urdu and Arabic.
To improve accuracy, we have also added an AI language detection mode. If you want precise language detection, you can turn it on — it works very fast.
We have also added an option for audio routing, so users can now select their preferred audio stream, such as Media, Accessibility, or any other available audio channel. Please note that the availability of audio channels varies from device to device. We do not guarantee that every audio stream will work on your specific device, so please choose accordingly. Otherwise, you can just leave it as default.
We have also improved accessibility and added separate accessibility configurations for low-vision users.
We updated the user flow for creating custom voice profiles with a very user-friendly, step-by-step onboarding.
Along with that, we have done a lot of bug fixes and optimization improvements.

AI Voice Dictation has been updated to version 3.8. Key features include Mixed Language Detection Mode for dictating in multiple languages simultaneously without automatic translation, the return of the Quick Actions button for toggling modes, and a simplified models list featuring Balanced, Fastest, and Advanced variants. New customizable audio beeps for speaking and processing have been added. Developer Settings now allow importing, exporting, and resetting settings via a JSON file that excludes custom API keys. General system instructions, bug fixes, and overall stability have been improved, and using internal API keys is recommended over custom keys.
As per user request add all internationally supported languages in the automatic language switching. Polish the rules optimize the language switching audio and fix the language switching audio bug.
Add the new feature as per users' requests: custom language profiles for automatic language switching. Very convenient for users who want to use non-supported languages with very fast language switching detection optimize for performance and improve overall accessibility on the UI. Add some more tweaks for advanced users. We are still working on that.

• No more items that vibrate and play their sound without saying anything. It happened a great deal in the notification shade, but also on a widget or in a web page, and never when swiping. Two separate causes: an item that already held the focus was not announced at all when the finger arrived on it, and an expanded group — a notification you have opened up, for instance — swallowed everything inside it, so the finger could travel over several texts without the cursor ever moving. Inside an item that has already been announced, exploration now goes down to what is really under your finger.
Play and pause
• The two-finger double tap finally works everywhere. It did not pause Prime Video and did not answer on WhatsApp, while a button on a wired remote did both. Talk Forward now drives whatever is playing directly, the way the buttons on the player's notification do, and falls back to a real media key when there is nothing to drive. For calls, the "answer" key of hands-free kits is sent first; if the call has not moved a moment later, the precise routes take over.
Rotor
• The rotor says when it has nothing to offer. Turning it with no reading control available made no sound at all, which is indistinguishable from a gesture that was not recognised, from a broken feature, and from a screen reader gone mute.
Dictation
• The field's placeholder no longer ends up in front of your text. Dictating into an empty message field inserted "Message hello, what time…". Apps that show that prompt text without declaring it as such are now recognised, and the field is treated as empty.
Translations
• The text added by this version is translated into the 28 languages Talk Forward already covers.
