Repost from Carl Sagan.

On 22 March 1954, Einstein received a letter from Joseph Dispentiere, an Italian immigrant who had worked as an experimental machinist in New Jersey. Dispentiere had declared himself an atheist and was disappointed by a news report that had cast Einstein as conventionally religious. Einstein replied on 24 March 1954:
"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."
On January 3, 1954, Einstein sent the following reply to Gutkind: "The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. .... For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions."
Love it
Let’s post all of Alby’s atheistic-y comments to spread further confusion.
That’s honestly one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard; it’s just that you like emo, depressed, religiously confused teens.
Plus, I couldn't possibly be prouder of myself. Spreading misinformation on the Internet is my thing, after all.
I’m quite flattered that you think I’m obsessed with him! I know absolutely nothing about him, but sure, I’ll read more about him sometime next year. Then I’ll definitely care and be super upset if someone dares to call him an atheist. But for now, I couldn’t care less.
Yes, she does, but there’s more than one admin speaking, which might explain your confusion
Because you do?
Of all of us, you’re the one who’s obsessed with him here
He actually said
"I believe in Spinoza's God, who reveals himself in the lawful harmony of being, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of men"
Which contradicts what I've said but my whole point was
Why would I care?
not an atheist, a deist, when he was asked directly about God he said "ask spenoza"
