Is the IELTS exam easy and hard depending on the country? I heard it's easy in Nepal and hard in gulf countries. No, that’s not true. Countries have no control about which exam they give. It is all controlled by Cambridge. The exam is, in theory, of equal challenge wherever you take it. For example, the writing and speaking are marked to the same criteria so it doesn’t matter if you take the exam in the US or Pakistan, you are marked to the same standard. The only way you will have an advantage is if any part of the exam is about something you know a lot about. So, if you are a teacher and your Parts 2 and 3 speaking questions are about education, then you should be able to do well. However, this will only help with part of the criteria.
