Over the past week, 109 little Ukrainians were born in Odesa. During the week, 57 girls and 52 boys joined the population of Odesa. Life goes on!!! 💙💛

Delegates of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and UNICEF visited Odesa. The purpose of the visit was to visit the Centre for Integrated Social Services (2D Kosovska St.) and the Barnahus Centre, established with the support of UNICEF, as well as to assess the effectiveness of the assistance provided by the UN agency. The guests noted Odesa's positive experience in implementing an integrated model of social service delivery and discussed the risks faced by the community in providing services and benefits to city residents. Special attention was paid to the implementation of the family patronage social service. The joint delegation also got acquainted with the activities of the Centre for Protection and Social and Psychological Support in the Investigation and Justice Process for Children based on the Barnahus model. The Centre was opened in November 2023 as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Ukraine, the Odesa City Council and the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health’. Following the visit, Ms. Najat Maalla expressed her gratitude to the leadership of the Odesa City Council for the reliable social partnership and hope for further cooperation to protect Ukrainian families and children.

Today marks an important event for our region and for Europe as a whole. The Baltic states – good friends of Ukraine – have disconnected from the Russian energy grid. Their energy systems are now fully synchronized with the European continental system. Ukraine had already done this in 2022, and now the Baltic states have also freed themselves from dependency. Moscow will no longer be able to use energy as a weapon against the Baltic states. This also means that Europe has become even more cohesive. This is exactly the course all of us in Europe should continue to follow across the continent. This is in particular relevant for Central European countries – those that still have agreements with Russia. We need to work more closely with America – LNG gas, oil. We need to work more closely with our partners in countries neighboring the European Union, in this region, to import the necessary energy. The Caucasus, the Middle East, North Africa. The less dependent Europeans are on Russia, the sooner we can ensure reliable security for everyone in Europe. I congratulate our friends – Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia – on today’s achievement. It’s important that Poland is helping, proving once again that cooperation among us all means the independence of each of us.

Today, the new Chair of the NATO Military Committee is in Ukraine. He is making his first visit specifically to our state to show support for Ukrainians. We appreciate it. Today we discussed preparations for Ramstein and our defense needs – of our shared defense. We now know – as our intelligence reports – that the Russians are creating new divisions and developing new military production facilities. It is clear that their cooperation with North Korea will be expanding. Unfortunately, Moscow is spreading modern technologies – war technologies – to that region, including drone technology. And this means one simple thing: it is not negotiations or peace that Putin is preparing for, but rather the continuation of the war, and not just against us, against Ukraine. They are now increasing their army by more than a hundred thousand soldiers. All partners should know and should see it. We are ready to share the relevant information, and the respective communication is already underway through the intelligence channels. We must see together what the threats are and what countermeasures we have. We need a clear understanding: here in Europe, every country will have to strengthen its defense, and the target of 5% of GDP for defense will not disappear from the agenda.

The first-ever hybrid winter Invictus Games will kick off today at 23.00 in Whistler and Vancouver (Canada). They will run until 16 February. He was injured in September 2022 near the village of Bilohirka, the Kherson region, as a result of a tank explosion on a mine. "Now I am developing a little bit of a veteran movement in Odesa. I have fun, I live. I swim in the sea. I started to enjoy the details, the little things. Sometimes I feel like a child. After training, I swim in the sea with such joy that it is equal to the joy of being able to wash from a bottle after a week in a tank," says Ilya Pylypenko. Drones are the technological backbone of modern warfare. Ukrainians must be leaders in this field. And in many ways, we already are. Today a meeting was held with the commanders of unmanned systems units, they are among our finest, and the expertise of all our finest will be scaled up. These are the people shaping Ukraine’s new technological defense doctrine. Decisions have been made, drones are being produced and delivered, and the role of drones must expand to render Russian assaults increasingly unfeasible. The Ukrainian state will spare no resources on this, because it is about saving our people’s lives.

Large-scale work has been completed to restore the chimney of the Northern-2 boiler house, which was damaged by bad weather in November 2023. The chimney was restored with the financial support of UNICEF. The chimney of the boiler house of the Odesa City Heat Supply Company has been put into operation and is already providing heat to 120,000 people, educational and medical institutions of the neighbourhood. "This winter, UNICEF's priority has been to keep families and children warm and to ensure that the key services they rely on, including healthcare, electricity, water, sanitation and education, remain operational, especially in the areas most affected by the war," said Munir Mammadzade, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine. On behalf of the Odesa community, Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov expressed his sincere gratitude to UNICEF for its steadfast support and cooperation. "The implemented project is a vivid example of the international cooperation and support that we feel in everything, and especially in the restoration and development of our city's critical infrastructure. When we are together, we are ready to face modern challenges and are able to provide comfortable living conditions for citizens," the Mayor of Odesa thanked. He also said that the work on the restoration of the boiler house building itself is ongoing, but it does not affect the technological process of providing heat to Odesa residents.

For more than 10 years, the Odesa Zoo has been holding the most romantic competition on Valentine's Day - "Couple of the Year". 👨‍⚕👩‍⚕2582 doctors and 2754 nurses work in Odesa's municipal healthcare facilities. This number includes 342 family doctors and 221 paediatricians. In 2024, 4.3 million visits were made to outpatient services in Odesa. Last year, patients visited family doctors of the city's healthcare facilities more than 1.3 million times. Primary care doctors of Odesa's medical institutions signed more than 707,000 declarations with patients. #results_of_the_year

A day in the life of Odesa.

Today marks six months of the Kursk operation. With our active operations on Russian territory, we have brought the war home to Russia, and it is there that they must feel what war is. And they do. Today, I honored the participants of the Kursk operation. Two of our warriors were awarded the titles of Hero of Ukraine, and I also presented the Crosses of Military Merit and the Orders of Ukraine. I want to thank every Ukrainian warrior and all our units involved in operations in the Kursk region. They have shown the world that, even with limited resources, we can act decisively, unexpectedly, and effectively. We are exposing Russia’s bluff for what it is – a bluff. We continue to defend our cities, Sumy and Kharkiv. We've significantly expanded our exchange fund with hundreds and hundreds of Russian soldiers, whom we are exchanging to bring Ukrainians back home from captivity. We also have North Korean soldiers in captivity. They are currently receiving medical treatment, as they were seriously wounded in combat. Their presence is proof that Putin has dragged yet another country into this war – North Korea – and is training them in modern warfare. This poses a threat to everyone, especially to every nation in East Asia. I am grateful to all our partners who understand how crucial it is to stop Russia now, so that there is no need to fight in years to come.

The members of the expert group of the Odesa Mayor's Council for Barrier-Free Access visited the locations where it is planned to organise spaces for recreation and rehabilitation of veterans and people with disabilities. In particular, the beach at the 11th station of the Big Fountain, where an inclusive beach is planned, and the area near the Dolphin beach, where an inclusive open-air sports complex will be created. In addition to employees of executive bodies, the expert group included veterans, representatives of the public, and people with disabilities. During the site visit, all important aspects were recorded in detail, including the need for tactile tiles, slopes, additional handrails, special equipment for swimming, etc. The results of the expert group's on-site meeting will be processed by the relevant services in the near future.

The Odesa City Council has approved the Methodology for Calculating the Rent for Communal Property of the Territorial Community of Odesa. With this regulatory act, the Odesa municipality creates uniform rules for participants in lease relations in Odesa and clear mechanisms for calculating rent.

"And most importantly, we are returning benefits to non-profit organisations that perform social functions,"

said Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov. Until now, due to changes in national legislation, local governments have been deprived of this right. Dozens of public organisations and charitable foundations that provided important social services to people were forced to give up their premises because they could not pay the rent. The Mayor instructed the Department of Communal Property to take a careful and thorough approach to granting benefits, ensuring fairness and transparency of the process for all participants.

He was injured in September 2022 near Yampolivka, the Donetsk region. Oleksiy was a veterinarian both before and after the war. He lived most of his life in Izmail. In 2011, he moved to Odesa. He says his decision to go to war was a normal course of events, because when war came to the country, the decision was obvious. At the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, our countryman will compete in three events: shot put, rowing on simulators, and archery.
