Yesterday, we welcomed summer the ITMO way — at the Bike Ride with the Rector! Just look at those happy faces 😍
Our giveaway winner, Abdelsalam Basyony, a second-year student of robotics and AI, also joined the ride. In his own words:
It was fantastic! Thanks to university life, I’d almost forgotten that cycling used to be one of my hobbies. But yesterday, ITMO reminded me of it! For two hours, it felt like St. Petersburg belonged to cyclists. We cruised through the city with music playing, photographers everywhere, alongside the Rector, and an incredible atmosphere all around. The only challenge was trying to look athletic while smiling for the cameras! 🙂↔️#events

Persistence is the name of the game 🏅
Now in his second year of Bachelor’s studies, Jofani Patrice has learned that the biggest challenges always come with the biggest rewards.
The biggest challenge is adapting to a new language, culture, and environment. I overcame all of these by being persistent and consistent about my dream, and most of all, by staying positive and not giving up no matter what situation I found myself in.⚡️️️Read Jofani’s full interview here #itmofaces 👍 ITMO on VK

Good news: summer’s here 🌞
Bad news: exams are here, too 🥲
But don’t panic — you can definitely ace all your tests. Here are some tips to rely on:
🖇️ Manage your time: plan your revision with to-do lists (so you don’t forget anything) and use time blocking to separate exam prep for different subjects.
🖇️ If you are struggling to start, try out the pomodoro method: work for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break. Rinse and repeat!
🖇️ Plan your rest. This is the one thing we often forget and yet the better rested we are, the better we can perform. Schedule at least half an hour of downtime at the end of your prep days.
🖇️ If you can do one thing for yourself, try and maintain your sleep schedule. Apart from all the other benefits of sleep, it’s what helps you store what you learn in your long-term memory.
🖇️ To keep your spirits up, celebrate even small victories, not just passing your test: revising a complex topic, solving a practice problem, or even bringing yourself to the library or coworking space in the first place — you can pat yourself on the back for any of these!
Good luck with all your exams! We believe in you ☘️

The Bike Ride with the Rector is tomorrow 🚴
First off, congratulations to our winner, Abdelsalam Basyony, who gets a free bike for the day! Please DM us to claim your prize.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the ride tomorrow! As usual, here are some tips if you weren’t able to secure a bike via the registration form:
🔵The route may include areas restricted for kicksharing services. To avoid any issues, we recommend renting a regular bicycle rather than an e-bike/e-scooter.
🔵Around the starting point of the ride, there are several designated parking areas of SmartBike, a stationless bike rental service. Be sure to download the app to check availability in advance!
🔵Another option is to rent from Velomarka. In this case, you may find it more convenient to arrive via the Begovaya metro station and then get to the starting point by bike.
🔵If you happen to be a bit late or can’t find the gathering point on the day of the ride, please contact our volunteers – we’ll add their names to this post tomorrow.

First came the cold – then the warmth 🇮🇳
Arnab Bose arrived in a new country with unfamiliar language, weather, and daily routines. Now, he’s thriving in ITMO’s Foundation Program and preparing for a future in physics research.
What really attracted me was the depth and structure of the Master’s programs in Russia. I found them to be very detailed and academically focused. ITMO also stood out because of its strong reputation, modern atmosphere, and the opportunities it offers to international students.➡️ Read Arnab’s full interview here #itmofaces 👍 ITMO on VK

White nights in St. Petersburg: magical, beautiful, and… impossible to sleep through? 🌙
If you’re an international student experiencing this for the first time, you’ve probably noticed that from late May to mid‑July, the sun never really sets. Great for evening walks. Not so great for your sleep!
But don’t worry, there are ways to rest better during the twilight. We’ve rounded them up for you 😴
