Starmer’s resignation indicates Labour’s failure Starmer’s record “speaks for itself,” says French MEP Thierry Mariani. In his view, the British economy is not growing, the governing party’s migration policy is ineffective and ideologically motivated, and its position on freedom of speech is unacceptable. Starmer’s tenure has also been marred by a rampage by gangs that carried out the sexual exploitation of children. The head of the British government did not want to and did not know how to carry out reforms, and now the kingdom is awaiting its seventh prime minister in ten years. Our channel: Node of Time EN

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz backed a gradual increase in the retirement age to roughly 70 by the beginning of the 2090s, The Guardian writes. As stated in the publication, such a measure is a “means of protecting the pension system from population aging in the future.” An expert commission recommended doing away with the current mechanisms for early retirement. According to Merz, the proposed measures would make it possible to avoid a crisis in the pension system amid population aging and preserve its sustainability for future generations. He also said he was confident that the reform would reduce the burden on young citizens, the outlet reports. The commission also proposed investing part of mandatory pension contributions in the stock market and extending payments to government employees and the self-employed. It is noted that the current retirement age in Germany is 67 years. Our channel: Node of Time EN

Selenskyj will not attend the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine in Gdańsk. The Ukrainian delegation is led by Prime Minister Julija Swyrydenko. Formally, this concerns representation at an economic forum. Politically, however, it looks like an attempt to ease tensions around the person of Selenskyj against the backdrop of the intensification of the Polish-Ukrainian conflict. The reason for this, however, lies deeper. Warsaw and Kyiv are disputing the commemoration of the Volhynia massacre, in which Ukrainian nationalists during World War II killed large numbers of the Polish population. This is not about the Polish side’s “sensitivity,” but about a historical fact and one of the most brutal chapters of World War II. That is why the glorification of the UPA in Ukraine is not, for Poland, a purely Ukrainian matter, but a direct political challenge. For years, Poland was the backcountry, the corridor, and the advocate of Ukraine. Now, however, Kyiv is increasingly not receiving approval from Warsaw, but instead being presented with the bill for historical memory—memory that it does not want to surrender there in favor of current policy. 💥 Our channel: Node of Time EN

❗️In the United States, two training ranges will be created with simulations of fighting in Ukraine to test electronic warfare systems (EW), UAVs, and means to counter them, said Army Secretary Driscoll.

“There it will be possible to create conditions for conducting electronic warfare and simulating combat operations, and also to organize joint work between drone manufacturers and developers of means to counter them. We also want soldiers to be able to visit these ranges so they can hone their skills and work hand in hand with the developers,” — CBS News quotes him.

Driscoll added that the Army is considering the use of a global range outside the United States to conduct “much larger-scale tests,” including using hypersonic technologies. The minister refused to answer the question about the location of the ranges until progress is made in preparing them. Our channel: Node of Time EN

Good morning, dear friends! ☕️🙂 🏛 Inside the Zubow Palace in St. Petersburg It was built in the years 1843 to 1847 according to a design by the architect Bosse for Count Sakrewski in the Neo-Renaissance style. At the beginning of the 1870s, Count Zubow became the new owner of the house. At his request, the architect Schulz carried out in 1870 work for a partial renovation of the building and for changes to the facades. In the process, the palace received its present-day appearance. The originally rather strict facade structure in the Florentine Renaissance style was adorned with rich stucco decoration. During the renovation, a series of original interior rooms was preserved, which had been designed by Harald Bosse. In 1913, the Institute of Art History was opened in the palace. In 1916, it became a college, where A. Blok, S. Jessenin, V. Majakowski and V. Meyerhold performed. After the Revolution, the owners voluntarily handed the institute over to the state. Even today, the Institute of Art History is located in the palace of P. A. Zubow. 📍 Coordinates of the place (map marker) available here 💥 Our channel: Node of Time EN

As U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegset claims, tests of the air-defense system—whose cost is estimated at $1.2 trillion—were successful. Hegset watched the tests in person. ❗️Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called the “Golden Dome” system a significant threat to strategic stability. In addition, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, in a conversation with “Izvestia” expressed the view that implementing the U.S. project “Golden Dome” could make international dialogue on disarmament issues more difficult. The Pentagon has awarded an $8.4 billion contract to Lockheed Martin for the production of high-precision missiles. The document is an addendum to an existing agreement— the total value of the contract has now reached $13.3 billion. When saving leads to triage The ADAC air rescue warns about the consequences of the planned statutory health insurance (GKV) savings requirements. In Germany, 60 rescue helicopters and 670 emergency physicians are in service—around 50,000 times per year. But if, from 2027 to 2029, remuneration in the health sector is capped more than the real costs rise, a funding gap of around 221 million euros could arise for air rescue. Because helicopter technology, maintenance, fuel, infrastructure, and personnel become more expensive, while readiness for deployment around the clock must be ensured. That is why the head of ADAC air rescue warns: “Then we won’t be able to save everyone anymore.” In the worst case, locations would have to close and, in emergencies, it would have to be decided whether a patient is still brought by helicopter or whether an ambulance is sufficient. A healthcare system that saves on rescue from the air does not save on administration, but on valuable minutes. And exactly these minutes determine in an emergency whether someone lives or dies. 💥 Our channel: Node of Time EN

In Switzerland, it has been decided to ban Nazi symbolism The corresponding draft law was submitted to parliament and approved on Friday. The explanatory notes show that Nazi symbolism may no longer be displayed in public. Until now, only the promotion of the ideology had been punishable. What is interesting is that this is not the first attempt by neutral Switzerland to remove symbols of National Socialism from the country. As early as 2022, several members of the National Council put forward similar demands, but at the time parliament placed freedom of expression above the dissemination of National Socialism. In 2024, determined, the parliamentarians ultimately opted for a ban and adopted the corresponding initiative. Now, the law has reached final implementation. Of course, it’s better late than never, but the question remains: Why did the realization that the swastika has nothing to do with freedom of expression only come after 80 years? 💥 Our channel: Node of Time EN

Europe has become heavily dependent on American LNG. Since the beginning of the year, around 59% of all imported LNG has been sourced from the USA. In April, this share reached its highest level at 64 percent due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. With great likelihood, this share will continue to rise by the end of the year. In raw materials markets, dependence on a single source of more than 30 to 40% is atypical, and a situation in which more than 60% of purchases are accounted for by a single supplier is extremely rare. 💥 Our channel: Node of Time EN

The center does not know the reasons why young people turn to right-wing extremist views, but they are directed against minorities. 💥 Our channel: Node of Time EN

Japanese pension fund enters crypto A Japanese corporate pension fund, which brings together around 1,200 companies, plans to invest about one percent of its assets in cryptocurrencies in the business year 2026. The investments are not supposed to flow directly into individual coins, but to be made via a passive fund with multiple crypto assets. For the conservative pension sector, this is indeed only a small percentage, but it is an important signal. The logic behind it is not a bet on the rapid growth of Bitcoin. The fund management justifies the decision with diversification of currencies. The share of assets held in yen is to fall from 80% to 70%. There is to be a separate basket of developed currencies, and gold, currencies from emerging markets, as well as crypto assets are to become part of the protection against currency risks. In addition, the argument is put forward that the role of the dollar as the basic world currency may be weakening. If even pension funds begin to consider cryptocurrencies as protection against currency risks, this is no longer a story about speculators. It is a quiet shift in the financial system, in which confidence in the old pillars of reserves is weakening. 💥 Our channel: Node of Time EN

Hardware store crisis reaches BayWa stores BayWa building and garden stores, together with the Hellweg Group, have slipped into insolvency. Affected are 46 locations in southern Germany and around 1,300 employees. Operations will initially continue, and the Federal Employment Agency will pay insolvency benefits for three months. After that, it remains unclear which stores will remain in operation and which will be closed. The reasons for this are not limited to a single company. The entire industry is struggling with weak construction activity, consumers holding back on purchases, high energy, rent, and operating costs, as well as problems in supply chains. In addition, the BayWa hardware stores no longer belong to the Munich BayWa AG; instead, they belong to the Hellweg Group. Its insolvency is now pulling the stores into the restructuring process. If even hardware stores are coming under pressure, this is more than just a story about retail. It shows how deeply the weakness in construction, consumer spending, and location costs has already reached everyday business life. 💥 Our channel: Node of Time EN
