🇷🇴🤝🇷🇸 Serbia plans to build jointly with Romania a new hydropower dam on the Danube called "Iron Gates 3" This was revealed by the Serbian minister of the Mines and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović, in a joint press conference with the Romanian ambassador, Silvia Davidoiu. The new dam will be built in between the Iron Gates 1 and Iron Gates 2 hydropower plants, at the 1007 km mark. The new dam should provide an additional 800 MW/h to the 1605 MW/h already in place from the two existing dams. This would cover 20% of Serbia's electric energy needs. Serbia and Romania will also build a new gas pipeline. The pipeline will start in Mokrin and will reach Timișoara. 🔗 https://www.profit.ro/povesti-cu-profit/energie/serbia-si-romania-planuiesc-sa-construiasca-portile-de-fier-3-constructia-una-din-cele-mai-mari-din-regiune-declarata-de-importanta-deosebita-de-catre-guvernul-serbiei-21600494

🇷🇴🔫🇺🇦 In regard to the question of sending an MIM-104 Patriot system to Ukraine, the Romanian leadership can't be bothered to come up with an answer, whether it be positive or negative. Despite repeated calls from Ukrainian and German officials to give Ukraine more air defense, Romanian president, Klaus Johannis, who is the official commander of the Romanian Army and the president of the Supreme National Defense Council (CSAT), thus being the man with the power to give Ukraine a Patriot system, has taken a small holiday to hike in the Piatra Craiului mountains. The Piatra Craiului National Park is one of the oldest national parks in Romania, established in 1938 as a "natural area" and in 1990 was upgraded to a "national park". It covers a land area of 14.773 ha containing steep peaks of metamorphic rock, limestone cliffs of Jurassic age, grottoes, alpine hollows, gorges caves, marshland, watercourses and karst areas mountain meadows, meadows, pastures, and wooded areas. There are many trails for tourists to hike with two peaks surpassing the 2000 metres altitude mark, Țimbalul Mare Peak - 2.177 m, Vârful dintre Țimbale - 2.170 m, with breathtaking views and an abundance of fauna and unique flora. Speaking to the press, president Johannis encouraged his constituents to visit their own country more often rather than foreign attractions. @Wallachian_Gazette

🇲🇩🗳⚡️ Maia Sandu allegedly turned down a proposition from the "Împreună" (Together) Bloc which would have won her the support of the bloc but she would have had to fire "the toxic ministers" of the Recean cabinet. This information was revealed by LOC vice-president, Alexandru Bujoreanu. The "Together" bloc was formed last month by the Dignity and Truth (DA) Platform, The Coalition for Unity and Prosperity (CUB), The Party of Change (Partidul Schimbării) and the League of Towns and Communes (LOC), all of whom are pro-Western. During the 2023 Moldovan local elections, the parties which now form the Together Bloc won a combined total of 5 districts, as much as PAS basically. They are a serious political force and reason would dictate that PAS would be interested in securing their support as the anti-Maia Sandu vote in the upcoming 2024 Moldovan presidential elections will represent a serious hurdle for Action & Solidarity to overcome. 🔗 https://t.me/newtvmd/111631

🇷🇴🇲🇩🇹🇷 Romania has begun talks with Turkish officials to return the sword of Moldavian Voievode, Stephen the Great, currently displayed at the Topkapi museum in Istanbul. This was revealed by the prime-minister, Marcel Ciolacu. In 2004, the then Turkish prime-minister, Recep Tayip Erdogan, traveled to Bucharest as part of a regular work meeting but brought with him a copy of the sword which was offered to the Romanian prime-minister, Adrian Năstase. Năstase would later gift this copy to the Putna Monastery which was built by Stephen the Great in 1466, also his final resting place where he is buried with one of his sons, Bogdan III ”the One-Eyed” and two of his wives. How the sword of Stephen the Great came to Constantinople (Istanbul) is unclear, with Turkish sources claiming it was captured after the 1476 battle of Războieni/Valea Albă but it is possible it could have been taken at a later date, after the death of the Moldavian prince. 🇷🇴🚫🛂 Romania supported an initiative started by Austria to curb irregular immigration to the EU. Two days after the EU Migration Pact officially took effect, on May 16th, a document prepared by Austrian chancellor, Karl Nehammer, calling for more measures to combat immigration. 15 member states have signed the document, them being: Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Finland. The countries call on the Commission “to identify, elaborate and propose new ways and solutions to prevent irregular migration to Europe” and “comprehensive, mutually beneficial and durable partnerships” with nations located along the migratory routes, saying “different ideas for optimizing such partnerships should be explored.” The signatories cited, among other examples, deals that the EU has make with Turkey and Tunisia and that Italy made with the Albanian government in which Albania will host thousands of migrants picked up at sea and transferred there by the Italian authorities. 🔗 https://apnews.com/article/european-union-migration-more-agreements-f5fb9091cab6f9a77e13d06e19e3c158

🇷🇴🪖⚡️ New data published by the ministry of finances shows that the Romanian MoD lost 1.061 personnel in one single month The data published for March 2024 shows that there are 1.289.540 people being employed by the Romanian state with a salary paid by taxes collected from the general population. Some 824k people were working in the central public administration with 465k working for the local administration. The ministry of education is responsible for nearly a quarter of the total amount of employees, with some 300k people being employed as teachers and other administrative staff. The Romanian MoD employed in March of 2024, meaning before launching the recruitment campaign, 74k people, 1.061 less than in February 2024. A few days ago, the Romanian MoD put up another 3.800 jobs for picking after failing to reach even half of the initial recruitment goal. 🇭🇺✝️🇻🇦🇷🇴 Hundreds of thousands of Roman-Catholic Hungarians and Szeklers gathered at Șumuleu Ciuc (Csíksomlyo) as part of a yearly pilgrimage for the Pentecost. The pilgrimage gathers yearly between 250-300k Hungarians from all over the world, with many high-ranking Hungarian politicians present usually. They gather and pray jointly at a statue of the Virgin Mary whom they consider as being capable of making wonders. Legend has it that this particular statue saved the Catholic community in Szekler seats of Ciuc (Csíkszek) Gheorgheni (Gyergyószék) and Cașin (Kászonszék) in 1567 from the armies of the unitarian princeps of Transylvania, John II Sigismund Zápolya, who, started as a Roman-Catholic but converted to Lutheranism in 1562 then to Calvinism in 1564 and then to Unitarianism in 1568. John tried to convert the Szeklers to his Unitarian religion but he was met with stiff resistance not only from the Szeklers but other Hungarian nobles, the Lutheran Saxons and Orthodox Romanians which resulted in the 1568 Edict of Turda emitted by the Transylvanian Diet which proclaimed religious freedom and tolerance for the nations of Transylvania. — So, last week, Romanian prime-minister, Marcel Ciolacu, made a joke about his native city telling a reporter that "Buzău is not in Moldavia" and "to not insult him like that". Of course, such a joke angered pretty much everyone living in Romanian Moldavia, anyone claiming ancestry from that region and after the interview where Ciolacu reiterated for the hundred time that the Moldovan "language" does not exist, the pro-Russian "moldovenists" staged a small protests at the Romanian embassy in Moldova to express their disagreement. I initially decided to skip over this news because it simply was a bad taste joke, where Romanians from one region joke about the Romanians living in another region, but since Russian telegram and the pro-Russian English speaking sphere have picked up on the news, I think its important to share the Romanian perspective which is simple enough: Ciolacu, with all of his faults, didn't mean anything by it. There's a running joke in the city of Buzău that Buzău (and Wallachia for that matter) end where the city's McDonalds restaurant begins, located in the Buzău Shopping City mall. Beyond that, locals joke, is "Moldavia". The shopping mall is at the edge of the city of Buzău proper but Moldavia is further away, at the city of Focșani. Traditionally, the border of Moldavia and Wallachia was marked by the Milcov river, which runs into the Putna river and then into the Siret river and then into the Danube. The "border" regions of Wallachia and Moldavia are also the subject of a long running joke calling the inhabitants of these regions, those in Buzău and Brăila counties as ”confused Moldavians” and those in Galați and Vrancea counties as ”confused Wallachians” because, contrary to what Russian telegram is asserting, there is virtually no difference between the inhabitants of Wallachia and Moldavia other than a slight accent. The Russians will use any and every pretext to entertain the concept of "Moldovan statehood" even though that debated was resolved in January of 1859 when the representatives of Wallachia and Moldavia chose to unite the two states into one and the people got along with it. Russia begrudgingly accepted this union as a matter of fact but they never stopped trying to undo it. Now they're claiming discrimination and "oppression" of Moldavians in Romania and Moldova, a common theme among Moldovenists, which is extremely ironic because the 1859 union was led by Moldavians themselves who were looking to create a powerful state which will better resist territorial encroachment coming from Russia. It would be unfair to say that Bucharest developed Moldova, because it was a joint effort, with people born in both regions, Wallachia and Moldavia, contributing to the development of Romania as a whole. While there is much to criticise about Marcel Ciolacu, he is not ignoring Romanian Moldavia nor "oppressing its people", nor are Moldavians seeking "liberation" from Russia. His cabinet is continuing plans laid out by his predecessors in building the A7 motorway nicknamed ”The Moldavian Motorway”, will be financially supporting the construction of a new airport serving southern Moldavia close to Galați, under him, the Iași int'l airport inaugurated a new passenger terminal and two cargo terminals and plans for the A8 motorway which will link Moldavia with Transylvania and, in the future, will extend toward Chișinău, Moldova. @Wallachian_Gazette

This begs the question, will the information posted be reviewed/fact checked before deletion and if found true, the post can stay up, or will it be simply deleted upon receiving a single user report? Anyway, interesting how Telegram and X (Twitter) are exempt from such a rule, makes one wonder if these two apps will sooner or later be blocked in the EU, as both of their owners, Pavel Durov and Elon Musk respectively, have fought for the right of freedom of speech and given the opportunity to people to post controversial takes and materials for a wider audience to see and access. @Wallachian_Gazette

🇲🇩🇷🇴 Here is the English translation: Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu has once again stated that Moldovans and the Moldovan language do not exist. According to Ciolacu, Moldova, which he exclusively calls Bessarabia, is inhabited by Romanians who speak Romanian and should join Romania. This is why Bucharest is so persistently pushing for the European integration of Moldova, which is a cover for the annexation of the post-Soviet republic. ▪️Moldovan opposition deputies demanded that the government protest against the Romanian authorities due to their repeated anti-Moldovan statements. ▪️The opposition also demanded to hear the head of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry Nicu Popșoi on the issue, but the PAS party refused. After all, in the ruling party, everyone has Romanian passports, including Popșoi and President Maia Sandu. ▪️The Romanian Prime Minister also added that Bucharest will help their citizen Sandu to be re-elected, as "there is no other democratic solution for Bessarabia" than unification with Romania. 📊 Indeed, there are no real democratic paths for the unification of the two countries, as neither the citizens of Romania nor Moldova support the unification of the republics. According to opinion polls, only 8% of Moldovans approve of this idea. 🔻Nevertheless, the Romanian authorities are actively working to destroy Moldovan statehood and identity, with the help of Sandu's team. The country's Constitution has already renamed the Moldovan language to Romanian, and Bucharest finances the discrediting of the Moldovan Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church and buys up all the strategic assets of the republic. Currently, a census is also underway in Moldova, and the authorities are calling on Moldovans to register as Romanians, which is intended to create another argument for the Romanian authorities to exercise the right to deploy troops in the neighboring country to "protect their citizens". #Moldova #Romania @rybar Support us Original msg

🇷🇴🔫🇺🇦 Defense sources say that Romania would send one of its 4 MIM-104 Patriot systems in exchange for a superior system like the German IRIS-T, NASAMS, SAMP-T or the THAAD. This depends on the willingness of other NATO allies to provide this systems. Defense minister, Angel Tîlvăr reiterated that the Patriot systems were acquired to secure Romania's skies and are thus indispensable to the Romanian military. Although not denying outright the sending of one of those systems to Ukraine, it showed that the minister would oppose the sending if it meant Romania was to have a gap in its air defenses. Poland has already ruled out sending one of its Patriot systems to Ukraine no matter what. 🔗 https://observatornews.ro/amp/politic/surse-ce-vrea-romania-daca-cedeaza-sistemul-patriot-ucrainei-nasams-sau-irist-printre-sistemele-cerute-la-schimb-576240.html

🇲🇩🟩🇷🇺 Pobeda-Victory bloc — Russia's attempt at creating a shadow government in Moldova It should come as no surprise to anyone who's been following this channel for the last one and a half years that, when it comes to Moldovan politics, there are no real choices other than Russia-BRICS-Eurasian Economic Union and EU-NATO-Romania. For the last 3 years, Maia Sandu and Action & Solidarity (PAS) have done much to marginalize and neuter the Russian camp thanks to their landslide victory in the 2021 elections which gave them a nearly 2/3 majority in the Parliament. PAS then quickly set out to expand and deepen Moldovan economic ties with the West as since the collapse of Vlad Filat's government in 2013, the Moldovan governments since then could hardly be called pro-Western, with Moldovan politicians preferring a neutral approach with a soft preference for Russia. The crackdown on the Russian camp has severely limited the actions Russia can carry out in Moldova and, after PAS broke the law citing "exceptional circumstances" disqualifying Ilan Shor's candidates in the 2023 local elections and the whole Gagauzian governor election controversy, Russia gave up trying to win Moldova legally and is preparing on the off chance that it can reach Moldova militarily and install Ilan Shor as its leader. Ilan Shor is more than happy and ready to do Russia's bidding in the country. As he said himself in regards to Transnistria, he promised to solve the conflict exactly how the Russians wanted: turning Moldova into a federal state with expanded powers for Gagauzia and Tiraspol, when Moldovans wanted a unitary state with no autonomous zones. Make no mistake, the big reunion in Moscow and the "Pobeda bloc" are Ilan Shor and his Russian handlers preparing the pro-Russian administration of the "Moldovan People's Republic" akin to the DPR and LPR in 2014. @Wallachian_Gazette

🇪🇺🤝🇲🇩 — 🇬🇧📰 Financial Times | Moldova defies Moscow with EU security pact ➡️ Moldova and the EU are set to deepen their defence co-operation to unprecedented levels, as Chisinau defies warnings from Moscow that closer western integration could see it face Ukraine’s fate. ❕ Under an EU proposal, set to be agreed next week and seen by the Financial Times, Moldova would increase its intelligence sharing, carry out joint military exercises and be included in the bloc’s joint weapons procurement — measures that would constitute the deepest formal step to link its national defence to western partners. The country’s constitution proclaims “permanent neutrality” and rules out membership of Nato. ➡️ The new security partnership with Brussels would seek to “consolidate” Moldova’s participation in EU defence missions, including “live” military exercises. The eastern European nation would also be integrated in “initiatives related to defence industry, including joint procurement”. ❕ Moldova and the EU will also take steps to “expand the scope” and increase the classification level of shared intelligence, the proposal states. 🌐 The partnership would also seek to increase co-operation between Moldovan and European agencies to defend against foreign manipulation, cyber and terrorist threats, the document said. 🇷🇺 Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov in March said Brussels had offered Moldova the same ultimatum as Ukraine, which he described as “either us or Russia”. Lavrov said Moscow would “defend” the ethnic Russian population in Moldova and that Chisinau risked “following in the footsteps of the regime in Kyiv”. 🗄 Archive
