President Donald Trump said the U.S. government will use the term 'super intelligence' instead of 'artificial intelligence' in official documents, arguing that the word 'artificial' makes the technology sound 'fake'.
Addressing the UN General Assembly, Trump also pushed back against international efforts to establish rules for AI, describing calls for global oversight as a 'globalist scheme'. He argued that the U.S. should not slow the development of the technology, which he said could have an impact greater than the Industrial Revolution.
Trump’s comments came as governments and international organisations, including the UN, pursue greater cooperation on AI governance.
