Reports indicate the death of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham commander known as “Yasser Abu al-Qahtan,” a Saudi national, who served as a Sharia official within Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham. He was killed as a result of explosions at ammunition depots in the town of al-Eis, in the southern countryside of Aleppo.

A report published by Middle East24 (ME24) revealed the growing influence of figures linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and the Syrian government in Daraa Governorate in southern Syria, through religious institutions, charities and local initiatives, in a move that raises concerns about the expanding influence of Islamist movements in the region. The report noted that the $36 million “Abshiri Hauran” campaign raised questions about the sources of funding for religious institutions and the beneficiaries of them, in addition to the possibility of extremism-related effects. According to Middle East24, officials and figures previously linked to the Nusra Front, ISIS, and al-Qaeda are seeking to influence the future of Syria and push for a model of governance based on Islamic principles.

The funeral of martyr Masoud Rasho Hamo, from the village of Susan and one of the martyrs of the Kobani prison fire, was held today, Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Martyr Dijla Shrine in the city of Kobani. A large crowd of city residents and the families of the martyrs took part in the funeral ceremony, renewing their commitment to the sacrifices of the martyrs, upholding dignity and identity, and rejecting the forced transfer of detainees to the prisons of the Damascus government.
