🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia, China leaders to meet as SCO summit highlights multipolar push Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to join more than a dozen leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The SCO, which marks its 25th anniversary this year, officially describes itself as “not an alliance directed against other states.” However, Moscow and Beijing have increasingly used the platform to promote a multipolar world and challenge Western influence. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are also expected to attend, alongside leaders from India and Pakistan. Iran joined the SCO in 2023 and maintains close military ties with Russia and strong energy links with China. The bloc now includes 10 permanent members and 15 dialogue partners, representing about 40% of the world’s population and 25% of global GDP. A gang in Egypt somehow pulled off a full-on Fast & Furious-style chicken robbery on the Cairo–Ismailia highway. Two men balanced on the hood of a moving pickup and grabbed boxes of frozen chicken from a truck carrying around four metric tons of poultry — making off with roughly 105 kg before the driver even noticed. Police later tracked down six suspects, all reportedly with prior convictions. When officers moved in, the group opened fire.
