❌ غير فعّال ضد Gram-negative
✅ لكنه فعّال ضد Gram-positive

Penicillin
يخدم على Cell wall تحديدًا peptidoglycan.
🦠 Gram-positive bacteria:
عندها Very thick layer من peptidoglycan مكشوفة، فـ penicillin يقدر يوصلها بسهولة ويكسر الجدار → تموت البكتيريا.
🧫 Gram-negative bacteria:
عندها Very thin layer من peptidoglycan
وفوقها outer membrane يحتوي على lipopolysaccharides (LPS)
هذا الغشاء يمنع دخول penicillin إلى داخل البكتيريا، فيصعب عليه الوصول إلى الـ peptidoglycan.
💡 لذلك: Penicillin غير فعال ضد Gram-negative إلا إذا كان معدل كيميائيًا (مثل ampicillin أو amoxicillin) بحيث يقدر يخترق outer membrane.
