Being

a video from the past three years of school found me among thousands of snapshots silly laughs frozen frames of time maybe in one of them i was only there because i had to be i didn't always walk into school with joy it often felt like breathing through glass like some invisible weight wrapped itself around my neck to play dumb to disappear but i couldn't and i didn't I kept asking myself why am I still sad I had made it out I knew more now I'd seen better things tasted freedom no one forced me to be small anymore didn't fake it just to survive but oh girl i miss it all of it even the things I never had even the kids I never met even the moments that only lived in possibility.
