Based on the Answer Evaluations, Following are Mistakes or Gaps in Phase II Answer Writing I. Students spend too much time typing the introduction as they are not able to get the start itself. You start typing immediately without devoting first 2 min to draft outline and thinking what would you write for this particular question or what exactly has been asked? This causes mid-answer confusion, backspacing, and contradictions. You try to perfect the answer instead of getting ideas out quickly and addressing whatever asking by diving it in parts. Write the outline Before Writing the Answer: Intro: 1 line short points/definition List subheadings for Body - Write Keywords under these sub-headings 1-line conclusion This takes 1-2 min per answer. II. Not able to Manage time due to not having good typing speed. Typing errors → retyping → more time loss Typing speed matters. Many candidates think fast but type slow, and it hurts their performance in Phase 2. III. Not able to structure answers. Too short or Too long Introduction Many introductions do not define the concept clearly. No transition to the body (missing abstract-style intro). IV. Body Without Subheadings Subheadings are often missing or unclear. Points are written randomly without flow → causes poor readability. Many answers simply list functions, challenges, or benefits. No explanation, no linkage to the question, no analysis. Sometimes examiner ask you to provide analysis or explain something and you write few points only rather than providing proper explanation and giving suitable examples. V. Getting blank after seeing the Question or Not able to Present thoughts due to time pressure. You understand the topic but cannot articulate quickly. You struggle to convert thoughts into structured sentences. VI. Excessive Editing VII. Conceptual Gaps in ESI & FM Topics Many use self-made or vague definitions instead of some standard definitions. Missing Contemporary Linkages: RBI reports, data, policies, schemes, NITI Aayog references are missing. Lack of Examples: Answers feel theoretical instead of applied. VIII. Grammar & Spelling Mistakes: Not able to properly form the sentence, making mistakes in sub + verb + agreement, making other Article/Punctuation/Preposition Errors. Many a times you are making known or repeated spelling mistakes in similar words. IX. Many students still don’t follow: A. Introduction = 12-15% of word Limit → Short, crisp, define + context B. Body = 75–80% → Subheadings + Points + Explanation + Examples C. Conclusion = 10% → Reflective, balanced Use Roman numerals (I, II, III… to create Points, computer understand roman better than any other numeric.) Subpoints Or Examples (Ia, IIa, IIIa ....)
