In RBI Grade B/NABARD Grade A descriptive answer writing, the introduction is NOT just a definition. The introduction functions like an ABSTRACT of your answer. Just like an abstract in a research paper, it briefly tells the examiner: What is the topic by providing the definition or context and background? Why is it important? What are the key issue/problem? What will be discussed in the answer (broadly)? All this in 10–15% of the word limit (≈ 70–90 words for 600 words).

In First Image, the Intro should have briefly covered: What is dryland farming Why it is important What problems exist That measures will be discussed But the intro: Only defines dryland farming Does not introduce problems or measures
