During school days, many of you might have read the story The Monkey’s Paw. For those who haven’t, here’s a summary: A coal miner once found a dried-up monkey’s paw in the mines. For some reason, instead of discarding it, he kept it carefully. Later, a mystic happened to see the paw and claimed it was enchanted. He said it could grant wishes to whoever asked for something, though the miner never tested it. Years went by, and the miner retired while his son followed in his footsteps, working in the same profession. One day, the elderly miner found himself in severe financial trouble. Helpless and desperate, he suddenly remembered the monkey’s paw. That afternoon, he secretly retrieved the paw from his cupboard, went to the rooftop, held it high, and shouted, “One hundred thousand francs!” For a brief moment, it felt as if the paw had come alive in his hand. But then, everything returned to normal. Later that evening, there was a knock at the door. When he opened it, the mine manager stood before him. In a somber voice, the manager informed him that his son had been killed in a mining accident earlier that day. The compensation for his son’s death? Exactly one hundred thousand francs. The story reflects a deep truth about life. Perhaps, like the monkey’s paw, there are unseen forces at play in our lives as well. One side of our desires may be fulfilled, but often at the cost of losing something else. In the endless pursuit of happiness, we seem to run aimlessly, torn between fear of loss and the hope of gain. Always searching, never satisfied— not here, not there, but somewhere else, in some other place…

On the Day of Judgment, the wronged person will take from your good deeds, or their sins will be placed upon you. Let us remember that stealing, fraud, and harm to others—regardless of their religion—are prohibited in Islam. Repent sincerely, abandon such actions, and ensure justice and honesty in all dealings. These acts harm others and jeopardize your eternal hereafter.
