📌 Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has commemorated the anniversary of the 1988 downing of an Iranian passenger aircraft by a US warship, describing the incident as one of the gravest crimes committed against the Iranian nation.
In a post on X marking the anniversary, Baqaei said Iran would never forget the unforgivable crime committed by the US administration of the time.
He recalled that on July 3, 1988, Iran Air Flight 655, en route from Tehran to Dubai, was struck by two missiles fired from the USS Vincennes over the Persian Gulf, killing all 290 people on board, including 66 children.
Baqaei also criticized the United States for awarding a Badge of Military Merit to the commander of the warship involved in the incident, calling it a bitter irony.
The spokesman paid tribute to the victims of Flight 655 and reiterated that the memory of the tragedy remains alive in Iran, stressing that the country would continue to remember an unforgivable act by the United States.

On Friday, Ghalibaf met with his Iraqi counterpart, Haibat al-Halbousi, who traveled to Tehran to attend the funeral of the martyred Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Ghalibaf welcomed the Iraqi delegation for attending the funeral ceremony, congratulating al-Halbousi on his appointment as Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament. He expressed his appreciation for their presence during this time of mourning for the Iranian people and officials.
He also emphasized the enduring bonds between Iran and Iraq, adding that after overcoming the difficult period of Saddam’s regime, the two nations have supported each other as brothers, fighting and sacrificing together to preserve their national sovereignty.
Regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz, Ghalibaf said that important issues have been resolved in the recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States. However, he asserted that, according to international law, the administration of the Strait of Hormuz should be handled by the two coastal states of Iran and Oman.
For his part, al-Halbousi emphasized the deep solidarity between the two nations, calling for the continuation of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Iraq.

📌 Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has called for deeper strategic, political, and parliamentary relations between Iran and China, saying recent regional developments have made closer coordination between the two countries more important than ever.
Ghalibaf made the remarks during a meeting with Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, He Wei, who traveled to Tehran to attend the funeral ceremony for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The speaker thanked the Chinese delegation for attending the ceremony and praised the political and economic cooperation between Tehran and Beijing.
The official said both countries should elevate their strategic partnership, arguing that stronger Iran-China ties could help reduce international tensions.
Ghalibaf also stressed the need to expand parliamentary cooperation alongside collaboration within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and on broader regional issues.
Referring to the recent regional conflict, he said closer political and economic coordination between Tehran and Beijing is essential in response to US unilateral policies.
Addressing maritime security, Ghalibaf said Iran had facilitated the passage of Chinese vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and declared that Tehran would not permit any US interference in the strategic waterway.
He added that Iran had recently reached an understanding with Oman on regulating maritime traffic and would continue consultations with the Persian Gulf littoral states.
For his part, the Chinese official expressed condolences to the Iranian people and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to expanding bilateral relations, noting that this year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 10th anniversary of the Iran-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
