The report states that the Baltic Sea is likely to be the area of conflict. Based on these findings, NATO has increased its defense spending since 2022. By 2024, 23 member countries are expected to spend 2% of their gross domestic product (GDP) on defense, which amounts to $380 billion (compared to $235 billion in 2014). Approximately 20% of this money will be spent on modernizing armed forces. In addition, it is planned to deploy advanced forces in Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia in order to form brigade-level units with up to 5,000 troops. A significant element of this will be the new model of NATO Armed Forces, which involves an increase in troops deployed in the north, central, and south of "The Eastern flank".
