New technologies have changed the way children spend their free time. Do you think the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages? What children do in their leisure time has been changed by contemporary technologies. While I admit there are certain benefits of this trend, I am of the opinion that the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. Positive aspects of this trend are mainly educational. One advantage it has is engaging children in learning through games or watching videos on various platforms, such as YouTube. For example, some children in my neighborhood have learnt to solve Rubik's cube by watching YouTube videos and some others have acquired knowledge in creating web programs, not to mention the improvement in their english as most of those games and videos are in that language. Further advantage can be children grow their understanding of technology. Unlike children in the past, today's young generation know how to operate computers, create softwares, use the internet to enhance their knowledge. However, the drawbacks seem more powerful than the mentioned benefits. The major downside is children pass their free time in social isolation with little or no contact with their peers or family members. As a result of this, they turn into unsocial people, which is negative for their personal life. Another concern around the change in spending free time due to technology is children's health is damaged by it since they make sedentary lifestyle a habit for themselves, and inactivity leads to many health issues, such as obesity. Vision loss is another health problem with those who spend hours glued to gadgets. In conclusion, the fact that technology interests children in learning is an advantage. However, causing social isolation and health damage are obvious downsides of technology use by children in their free time and thus I believe this trend is more disadvantageous.

For some individuals, being involved in a competition in different aspects of life, from work and school to what we do in daily life is a choice. For some others, however, cooperating rather than competing is a finer alternative. While I find the presence of healthy competition useful, cooperation should not be forgotten. One reason among many others why some people see the need for competition is simply growth.Where there is competition, there is a growth. This is because when people compete in a certain thing, be it work or study ,they usually strive to excel others, working on themselves. Through competition, invaluable experience and knowledge is accumulated, which leads to the improvement both at personal level, and academic - professional level. To illustrate, an underachiever student attempts to catch up with other students by just having a sense of competition or by being in a competitive setting. Further, competition rectifies people's mindset towards life by dictating that unless they try and seize opportunities, others will snatch them. Thus, competition enables people to gain knowledge and experience and at the same time, it teaches us to recognise opportunities and hold them tightly. However, others rule out competition and rather advocate cooperation. The primary reason is associated with the exchange of ideas, styles or guidances, and developing through this way. When colleagues cooperate, they can learn more efficient methods of doing their job or when students come together to study, this allows them to learn from each other by exchanging, for instance. Another example is if a couple cooperate over how to nurture their children, they can come up with one mutually - accepted nurturing method, which is better than each parent is nurturing in their own way. In addition, cooperation is an ideal means to bring people closer together in their relationships. Mentioned groups of people do not just exchange ideas, but they also become closer to each other by understanding each other better and this is helpful in forming families and friendship with more solid harmony and cohesion. In conclusion, while some find competition important since it fosters self-improvement, and makes people more willful to go forward, some others opt for cooperation as it is a good way to improve through exchange of ideas and methods coupled with better unity among people. In my view, blending both these would bring much better results. Band: 8+ Word count: I don't know 😁 @ieltsology1

Some people think that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing. Others believe that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. Cam 19
