Support for Iranian Applicants
Students from Iran comprise an important part of our current and future graduate student community. Given the current situation in Iran we are working hard to support Iranian applicants. Current supports available include:
1. If a supervisor/program is interested in considering an individual’s formal application and payment of the application fee is a barrier for the applicant, we can provide an application fee waiver.
(اگر موافقت اولیه دانشگاه یا پروگرم رو دارید. میتونید درخواست ویور رو بدید. در نظر داشته باشید این به این معنا نیست که قطعا موافقت میشه ولی دانشگاه تمام تلاشش رو میکنه که این امکان رو فراهم کنه. به اصطلاح "case-by-case" هست و بررسی و نتیجه فرد به فرد هست.)
2. If an Iranian applicant is struggling to access English language proficiency testing, we can provide a Duolingo waiver code.
(اگر مشکل در امتحان زبان رو دارید یا پروگرم شما امتحان زبان خاصی رو مد نظر داره، میتونید درخواست در نظر گرفتن آزمون دولینگو رو بدید.)
3. If an Iranian applicant’s referees are unable to submit reference letters online, we can work with the program to establish an alternative.

4. If an Iranian applicant is admitted and is having difficulties in getting their current or former institutions to send official documents to CGPS, we can discuss alternative options with the admitting program.

Applications are invited for funded "Master’s and PhD Student positions" in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). The candidates will perform research in the field of "Metal Additive Manufacturing", specifically Laser Powder Bed Fusion of aerospace and marine alloys.
The candidates will be expected to contribute to a vibrant multidisciplinary research group and be able to work in close collaboration with industrial partners. Strong oral and written communication skills, along with solid background and/or sufficient experience and knowledge in the following fields are required for these positions:
- Materials characterization (OM, SEM, TEM, XRD, EBSD and Mechanical testing…)
- Deformation of materials
- Modelling and simulation of materials (microstructure, properties, processing,…)
- Solidification and casting/welding
- Corrosion & oxidation of materials
Experience in the areas of additive manufacturing and machine learning will be an asset.
