Did you know that the famous science fiction writer Nick Perumov is a graduate of Polytechnic?
In 1986, Nikolai (Nick) Perumov graduated from the Department of Biophysics, Faculty of Physics and Mechanics.
He was engaged in molecular immunology. He participated in the development of treatment methods for victims of the Chernobyl accident.
In the late 1970s he became interested in fantasy, read in the original and translated books by John Tolkien. At the same time, Nikolai himself began to write. The book was published under the title "The Ring of Darkness", it is believed that it marked the beginning of Russian fantasy.
Nick Perumov began to invent his own worlds, but as a physical engineer he tried to make sure that the fairy tale universe also obeyed physical laws, like the existing universe.
