How to collect Walmart data with Python: a new article on the Froxy blog. Walmart is a common target for price monitoring and review analysis. It has no public product API, but every product page already contains the price, rating, reviews, and stock status in one JSON block called NEXT_DATA. A plain HTTP client can fetch it, so there is no HTML to parse. Once the request volume grows, Walmart starts blocking. The site is protected by Akamai and HUMAN Security, which check IPs and browser fingerprints. Search also stops at page 25. The article shows which JSON paths to use, includes parsers for search results and product pages, and explains how filters help you get past the page limit. Python Reqests: the proxy is configured and the block persists Two reasons come up more often than a bad IP. Requests builds its TLS handshake through urllib3 and OpenSSL, so Cloudflare and DataDome can read a non-browser fingerprint before they look at your User-Agent. Separately, a Session pulls HTTP_PROXY from the environment and overrides session.proxies, which makes working code look broken; trust_env = False settles it. The EU and Canada require opt-in consent before the first message, while CAN-SPAM in the US allows cold commercial mail as long as you include a working unsubscribe, a physical address and an honest subject line.
