PASTOR PAUL ENENCHE.* DATE: *SATURDAY 17 JUNE, 2023.* TOPIC: *HOPE IN GOD THROUGH THE WORD* SCRIPTURE: _Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope._ PSALM 119:49. *THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you are in possession of the Word of God, you cannot be ashamed of your hope in God.* The Scripture makes it clear that the Word of God is the hope of the child of God. When you are in the possession of the Word of God, you cannot be ashamed of your hope in God. The Word of God makes both the hope and faith of the child of God not to fail him. Sometime ago, a Nigerian lady living in a country in Europe called me and said that I should pray for her, because she was given three weeks to return to Nigeria. When I asked her why they wanted to deport her, I discovered that she went to Europe as someone seeking asylum. She said that she went to Europe as a refugee and that she has been trying to work out her permanent residence permit but it was not successful. So, I became angry and I asked her, “Why asylum? Are you a refugee? Where did you run from? What war did you run from?” I was very angry, so I told her that it was because of people like her that other nations of the world don’t respect Nigerians. I asked her, “Why would a bona fide, full-fledged dignified citizen of Nigeria like you take the title of a refugee?” Nevertheless, I prayed this prayer for her: “Father, let Your will be done in her life; if it is Your will for her to return to Nigeria, let her return.” I am sure she must have regretted calling me that day. Beloved, look up to God only; stop doing things that may amputate your life and destiny. Make God the only Source of your expectation (Psalm 62:5). Don’t put your faith on any system. You are not permitted to be hopeless if you are worded. It is only wordlessness that brings hopelessness. Place yourself on a continuous diet of the Word. Hopelessness and discouragement are triggers of suicidal tendencies. _REMEMBER THIS: When you are in possession of the Word of God, you cannot be ashamed of your hope in God._ ASSIGNMENTS: 1. Always hope in the Word of God. 2. Refuse to trust in systems, Government or even your ability. Rely completely in God. PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your Word to me today. I receive the grace to put my hope completely in Your Word, Lord, in Jesus’ Name. *SEED OF DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY DR PASTOR PAUL ENENCHE.* DATE: *FRIDAY 16 JUNE, 2023.* TOPIC: *RELEASING YOUR SPIRIT MAN BY FASTING.* SCRIPTURE: _Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting._ Matthew 17:21 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: *Fasting maximises the spiritual strength of a Christian.* In our previous study, we saw the power of fasting in subduing the flesh, thereby bringing man’s will in submission to the Will of God. In our study today, we shall look at another benefit of fasting: Fasting breaks the flesh and releases the Spirit One thing to understand is that whatever humbles the flesh will strengthen the Spirit. Anything that minimizes the flesh will maximize the Spirit. For example, the flesh loves to eat. When you deprive it of the food it loves to eat and use the time for spiritual activity, it will be minimized and the spirit will be maximized. Also, the flesh loves to sleep, especially in the night. Deprive it a portion of that sleep and use it for spiritual activity, it will heighten spiritual intensity. When a man and his wife deny themselves of some level of intimacy, which is their marital right, for a season for the sake of spiritual activity, it can amplify the strength of their spirituality. 1 Corinthians 7:5 says, Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. So, in the spiritual realm, it is a known fact that anything that is a deprivation of the flesh is a maximization of the spirit. That is the principle of the fast: fasting maximizes the spiritual strength of a Christian. From our anchor Scripture, we understand that the disciples could not cast out the demon from a demon-possessed fellow for two reasons: First, unbelief. And second, inability to pray and fast. Beloved, don’t be afraid to fast. Fasting will not reduce you; rather, it will increase you. Discipline yourself to embark on a profitable fast always. *REMEMBER THIS:* _Fasting maximizes the spiritual strength of a Christian._ ASSIGNMENTS: 1. Deprive your flesh of excessive food and sleep through fasting, so you can strengthen your spirit. 2. Do it consistently to see long lasting results. PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to deprive myself of excessive food and sleep by fasting so I can release my spirit. Help me to be consistent Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
