Ambedkar, in his book "Pakistan or the Partition of India" wrote, "जो व्यवहार मोपलाओं ने हिंदुओं के साथ किया था, उससे सभी लोग अचम्भे में थे। नरसंहार, जबरन धर्म-परिवर्तन, मंदिरों को अपवित्र करना, महिलाओं के साथ दुराचार, गर्भवती महिलाओं के गर्भ चीर दिए गाए, लूट खसोट, आगज़नी और तोड़-फोड़ । क्रूरता और बर्बरता की सभी सीमाएँ लांघकर हिंदुओं पर अत्याचार किए गाए थे। ये अत्याचार तब तक चलते रहे जब तक कि शांति बहाल करने के लिए सेना नहीं पहुँच गई। इस दुर्गम स्थान पर सेना का पहुँचना सरल नहीं था। ये कोई हिंदू-मुसलमान दंगा नहीं था। ये एक तरफ़ा नरसंहार था। Annie Besant wrote in her letter: ऐसे बहुत से अत्याचार किए गए हैं, जिन्हें लोग बता भी नहीं पा रहे हैं। मालाबार ने हमें सिखा दिया है कि इस्लामी शासन का क्या अर्थ है और हम भारत में इसका कोई और नमूना नहीं देखना चाहेंगे । मालाबार से बाहर के मुसलमान और श्रीमान गांधी कैसे इन मोपलाओं को बचा रहे हैं वो भी हमने देख लिया है, गांधी का कहना है कि वो तो केवल विद्रोही हैं जो बस वो कर रहे हैं जो उन्हें उनका मज़हब सिखाता है। मुझे भी लगता है कि ये सच है; लेकिन किसी सभ्य समाज में ऐसे लोगों के लिए कोई स्थान नहीं होना चाहिए जो हिंदुओं को केवल इसलिए प्रताड़ित करें कि वो अपने सदियों पुराने धर्म को त्याग दें।
