Many parents waste the first few years of a child’s life, not realizing the potential that is wasted. This I remembered stage is the fertile soil from which everything else develops, the ability to embrace struggle, to cultivate discipline is here. Like a young sapling, green and malleable it can be straightened or shaped with a gentle touch but an old oak is hardened and set in whatever way it has happened to have grown.

This generation, which is most obsessed with freedom, has created more slaves than any before it. God, being the only creator, is above all else. He is the only uncreated being and by the nature of things all exists to serve him. God is not content to be served, he wishes to be loved and worshipped and the act of love requires free will. So God gives man this free will. He can choose not to serve God but he conflates this with the ability not to be a servant at all. To be servants is our nature and dignity is only to be had in serving that highest of beings God, the uncreated creator. Instead man chooses to serve his own pride and ends up serving gluttony, lust, avarice etc The only free men are those who choose to serve God and in so doing gain the grace to unshackle themselves from the love or fear of anything but God. The life of a people depends on their Warriors fearing nothing but God and thirsting for nothing but to fulfill their duty.

We did our first family puzzle. Puzzles provide a valuable way to teach kids pattern recognition and algorithmic thinking. Small children at first solve puzzles by putting five pieces together until they find one that fits. This works for very small puzzles and would also work for large puzzles but it would take a prohibitively long time. Showing them different strategies for solving puzzles and finding pieces that fits together introduces problem solving concepts, like the understanding that something might work but something else might be more efficient. Have lots of children and organize your time so that you can spend as much time with them as possible. Keep them out of the hands of modern “educators”.
