بيتصنفوا حسب المكان اللي بيشتغلوا فيه ل
-endocrine بينتقلوا عبر الدم
-paracrine بيروحوا لل cells
-autocrine بيشتغلوا ف نفس ال cell

-Organic compounds
عشان بيبقوا دايمًا steroids, protein, polypeptide in nature
-بينظموا ال metabolism وال growth وال hemostasis
🌟Types of receptors
⚡️1- plasma membrane receptors
موجودين على سطح الخلية من برا ف بيبقوا specific لل protein وال catecholamine hormones
-EXs:

🔻tyrosine receptors
🔻tyrosine kinase associated receptors( JAK-STAT)
🔻hepatahelical receprors
⚡️2-Intracellular receptors
Specific لل aromatic وال steroids
a- cytoplasmic---> receptors for steroids
b- nuclear ---> receptors for thyroid
(Thyroids, catecholamines الاتنين جايين من tyrosine بس بيختلفوا بعدين
فمننساش إن ال catecholamines ليها plasma membrane receptors مش زي thyroid)

🔻steroids, vit d ---> cholesterol& small نسبيًا
🔻 prostaglandin ---> fatty acids & small نسبيًا برضو
🔻proteins ---> مباشرة من translation of mRNA
🌟Classification of Hormones by MOF:-

⚡️1- hormones bind to intracellular protien(group 1 protein) :
التفاعل كله بيتم عن طريق ال receptor- hormone complex

⚡️2- hormones that bind to cell surface receptors
بيحتاجوا 2nd messenger غير ال 1st اللي هو ال hormone نفسه
2nd messenger بيبدأ cascade يوصل لتنشيط ال kinase أو ال phosphatase
وبينقسموا ل 4 مجموعات
1- Group IIa
-2nd messenger---> cAMP---> ينشط Adenyl cyclase

▪️Pituitary gland is the master gland , controls all endocrine glands secretion
▪️ Pituitary gland is located in sella turcica, consists of anterior & posterior lobes
▪️Anterior Pituitary secretes releasing hormones (stimulatory for other glands to secrete their hormones)
▪️ Anterior Pituitary secretes many hormones (stimulating pancreas, thyroid, breast , testes & ovaries ) ,,But posterior pituitary secretes only 2 hormones (oxytocin & ADH)
اللي فوق معلومات ف الأول كدا كمقدمة الدكتورة قالتهم ومش موجودين بشكل مباشر ف الداتا
▪️Most important disease of Pituitary is adenoma ( adenoma more common than carcinoma)
▪️Sporadic adenoma hasn't genetic predisposition,,But familial type has (sporadic more common)
▪️MEN-1 ➡️ tumors in PPP :
Pituitary
Parathyroid
Pancreas
▪️ MEN-1 ➡️ familial type of pituitary adenoma
▪️ Classification of pituitary adenoma according to function مهم
▪️Mass effect of non functioning adenoma may cause ⬆️ in ICP & affect surrounding tissues
▪️Most common form of adenoma ➡️ prolactinoma (causing secretion of milk from breast)
▪️ Prolactinoma occurs in lactating & non-lactating
▪️ Prolactinoma ⬇️ Gonadotropin releasing hormones (GnRHs) ➡️ suppress FSH , LH & testosterone
▪️ Prolactinoma in female causes amenorrhea-glactorrhea syndrome (amenorrhea due to suppression of FSH & LH characterized by no ovulation , no menstrual cycle & infertility)
(galactorrhea ➡️ secretion of milk)
▪️ Prolactinoma in males causes impotence

▪️ Bitemporal hemianopia as a result of prolactinoma مهمة
▪️⬆️GH hormone in children (before closure of epiphysis) ➡️ Gigantism
▪️⬆️GH hormone in adults (after closure of epiphysis) ➡️ acromegaly
▪️1st common cause of death in acromegaly is heart failure
2nd cause may be cancer colon مهمة
▪️Adenocorticotrophic hormone (cortisol) is secreted from suprarenal gland ( adrenal cortex)
▪️ Cushing disease ➡️ مش مهم اوي تفاصيله دلوقتي بس الدكتورة قالتها بردو
- more common in females
- characterized by fat deposition in the back (buffalo hump) , moon face , abdominal stria , thin legs and arms & thick or obese trunk
▪️Adenoma > 1cm ➡️extends outside sella turcica with parasellar & suprasellar extensions
▪️Uniform cells in M.P ➡️خلايا كلهم شبه بعض
▪️ Panhypopituitarism ➡️ لما الادينوما هتكبر جامد هتضغط علي اللي حواليها ف تكسرهم وتدمرهم ف مش هيطلعوا باقي الهرمونات ف يحصل decrease in all hormones
▪️ Hypopituitarism in Apoplexy➡️ ال hemorrhage دا هيكسر الخلايا بتاعت التيومر نفسه ف هيبطل يطلع الهرمونات اللي كان بيطلعها
▪️ Hypopituitarism ➡️ occurs with loss of 75% or more of ant. Pituitary cells
▪️Dwarfism differs from cretinism in preserved mentality with dwarfism
وف الاتنين بيكون العيان قصير
▪️ secondary causes of Hypopituitarism is due to affection of hypothalamus (destruction of it)
▪️Sheehan syndrome ( انتي فين يا شيهان ، انا هنا يا سلامة ) مهمة جدا جدا
-Occurs in postpartum only
1st sign or manifestation is failure of lactation & it's a strong sign
👉 ADH ➡️ decreases urine amount normally
👉 Central diabetes insipidus ➡️ ⬇️ in ADH
-Characterized by: polyuria , thirst & polydipsia and hypernatremia
👉 Peripheral (nephrogenic diabetes insipidus ➡️ kidneys are unresponsive , ADH is normal
👉 SIADH ➡️ due to excessive ⬆️ in ADH
-Characterized by: oliguria & hyponatremia
👉 SIADH = Sodium Is Always Decreased Here
👉 Oxytocin ➡️ causes utrine contraction facilitating labor
👉Craniopharyngioma مهمة كلها
