In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court says homemakers deserve recognition as “nation builders” for their role in shaping families and future generations. The court rules that unpaid domestic work must be monetised at a minimum of ₹30,000 per month while calculating compensation in road accident cases. It further observes that women managing households should not be referred to merely as “homemakers”, as the term undervalues their contribution to society.
