Ethiopian Public Service University Joins Prestigious International Project to Modernize Public Sector Leadership **********,,*********,,*******,,********,,********** Caserta, Italy – A delegation from the Ethiopian Public Service University (EPSU), led by its President Dr. Nigus Tadesse, participated in the official launch of a major international capacity-building project held in Italy from February 10-12, 2026. The official launching ceremony took place on the morning of February 10 at the Royal Palace of Caserta, headquarters of Italy's National School of Administration (SNA-Scuola Nazionale dell'Amministrazione), followed by high-level professional meetings in Rome. The project, titled "Strengthening the skills, expertise, and knowledge of senior public officials in Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tunisia," was officially launched by Italy's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Edmondo Cirielli, and the President of the SNA, Professor Paola Severino. With total funding of approximately €6.5 million, the initiative will provide training to senior public officials from the four participating countries in strategic areas critical to national development. The ceremony brought together delegations from the four African pilot nations alongside representatives of key Italian institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Department of Public Administration of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), and the Mattei Plan Mission Structure. In his address, Deputy Minister Cirielli underscored Italy's commitment to the initiative, revealing its origins during the G7 high-level meeting on training that he chaired in Caserta in October 2024. "I strongly supported this project, which was conceived during the G7 high-level meeting on training that I chaired in October 2024 right here in Caserta, and I thank Minister Tajani for believing in the initiative," the Deputy Minister stated. Professor Paola Severino, President of the SNA, echoed this sentiment, affirming that the SNA was ready to seize the opportunity and, through collaboration with the Foreign Ministry and other partners, quickly implemented an initiative that could transform the Royal Palace of Caserta into an educational hub for Africa, within the framework of the Mattei Plan launched by President Meloni. In his remarks, Dr. Nigus Tadesse emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration for Ethiopia's on-going public sector modernization efforts. "The collaboration of Ethiopian Public Service University with Italy's National School of Administration is not only vital for Ethiopia's public sector modernization but also furthers the longstanding relationship between our two nations," Dr. Nigus stated. He highlighted that the project's comprehensive training areas, ranging from digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity to public procurement, public policy, and debt management, directly align with Ethiopia's national strategic priorities of capacity building. With training set to commence in critical fields such as public debt management, innovative financial instruments, fiscal resource mobilization, investment promotion, and the energy and digital transition, the initiative promises to equip senior Ethiopian public officials with cutting-edge skills to enhance governance, drive efficiency, and foster innovation across the public sector. ለኢትዮጵያ ፐብሊክ ሰርቪስ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሰላም እና ደህንነት ስራ አስፈጻሚ አባሎችና አመራሮች የወሳኝ መሰረተ ልማት ጥበቃ ስልጠና ተሰጠ፤ በኢትዮጵያ ፐብሊክ ሰርቪስ ዩኒቨርሲቲ፣ በሰላም እና ደህንነት ስራ አስፈጻሚ ለሚገኙ ቡድን መሪዎች፣ ሽፍት አስተባባሪዎች እና የካምፓስ ፖሊስ አባላት፣ “የወሳኝ መሰረተ ልማት ተቋማት ደህንነትና አመራር” በሚል ርዕስ የተዘጋጀ የልምድ ልውውጥ ስልጠና፣ የካቲት 5 ቀን 2018 ዓ/ም ተሰጠ፡፡ በስልጠናው መክፈቻ የተገኙት የዩኒቨርሲቲው የልማት እና አስተዳደር ዘርፍ ምክትል ፕሬዝደንት ዶ/ር ተሾመ ዱላ፣ የስልጠናውን አስፈላጊነት አስመልክተው ባስተላለፉት መልእክት፣ አንድ ተቋም ከሚያስፈልጉት ግብአቶች አንዱ የሰው ኃይል መሆኑን ጠቅሰው፣ ይህ የሰው ኃይል በስራው ውጤታማ እንዲሆን እና ዓለማችን ካለችበት ፈጣን የለውጥ ሂደት ጋር አብሮ መራመድ እንዲችል፣ ከወቅቱ ጋር የተስማማ ስልጠና እንደሚያስፈልገው ታምኖበት የተዘጋጀ ስልጠና መሆኑን ገልጸዋል፤ አስከትለውም “ሁሉም የስራ ክፍሎች የሰው ኃይል ክህሎትን እና ብቃትን ማረጋገጥ ተቀዳሚ ትኩረታቸው ሊሆን ይገባል፡፡” ብለዋል፡፡ “የወሳኝ መሰረተ ልማት ተቋማት ደህንነትና አመራር” በሚል ርዕስ የቀረበውን ስልጠና የሰጡት፣ የአዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሰላም እና ደህንነት ስራ አስፈጻሚ ኮማንደር ካሳሁን መኮንን ሲሆኑ፣ የወሳኝ መሰረተ ልማት ምንነት፣ የስራ አመራር ምንነት፣ የአገልግሎት ምንነት እና የመልካም ስነ- ምግባር ምንነት የሚሉትን ዋና ዋና ርእሶች፣ ከሰላምና ደህንነት አገልግሎት አሰጣጥ ጋር አስተሳስው አቅርበዋል፡፡ እንዲሁም የአዲስ አበባ ሳይንስ እና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የሰላም እና ደህንነት ስራ አስፈጻሚ ዋና ኢንስፔክተር አሰፋ ተፈረደኝ፣ “የዩኒቨርሲቲ ፀጥታ አሰራር” በሚል ርእስ፣ የአዲስ አበባ ሳይንስ እና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲን አሰራር መሰረት አድርገው፣ በዋናነት የአውትሶርስን የጥበቃ ኃይል፣ ከውስጥ የጥበቃ ኃይል ጋር አጣምሮ በመምራት ላይ ትኩረት ያደረገ ልምዳቸውን አካፍለዋል፡፡ ቀጥሎም፣ የኢፐሰዩ የሰላም እና ደህንነት ስራ አስፈጻሚ ኮሎኔል ነጋሲ አረጋይ፣ በስልጠናው ላይ ወደ ሰባ የሚጠጉ የካምፓስ ፖሊሶች እና ሽፍት አስተባባሪዎች መሳተፋቸውን ገልጸው፣ “የስልጠናው ዓላማ ዩኒቨርሲቲያችን የጀመረውን ሁለገብ፣ ፈጣን እና ውጤታማ ሪፎርም የሚመጥን ሙያዊ አቅም ለመፍጠር ነው፡፡” ብለዋል፡፡ ኢፐሰዩ በቀጣይ ከሚከተለው የካምፓስ ፖሊስ አደረጃጀት አኳያ፣ የአዲስ አባባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ እና የአዲስ አበባ ሳይንስ እና ቴክኖሎጂ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የተከተሉትን የአደረጃጀት ልምድ መቅሰም አስፈላጊ መሆኑን ጠቅሰው፣ “ይህንን ለማሳካት ከሁለቱም ዩኒቨርሲቲዎች በሰላም እና ደህንነት ስራ አመራር እውቀትና ልምድ ያላቸውን ከፍተኛ መኮንኖች ጋብዘን፣ ስልጠናና የልምድ ልውውጥ አካሂደናል፡፡” ብለዋል፡፡ በመጨረሻም ከተሳታፊዎች ለተሰነዘሩ ሀሳብ አስተያየት እና ጥያቄዎች ማብራሪያ ተሰጥቶ፣ የዩኒቨርሲቲው ልማት እና አስተዳደር ዘርፍ ምክትል ፕሬዝደንት ዶ/ር ተሸመ ዱላ አሰልጣኞቹን አመስግነው እና ለሰልጣኞቹም የስራ መመሪያ አስተላልፈው፣ ስልጠናው ተጠናቋል፡፡

EPSU Students and Staff Gain Global Knowledge Through E-Library USA at U.S. Embassy Addis Ababa, February 11, 2026 — Ethiopian Public Service University (EPSU) continues to strengthen its partnership with the U.S. Embassy, providing students and staff with direct access to the E-Library USA, a world-class digital library. Today, more than 50 undergraduate students visited the embassy to explore the E-Library USA, which offers a wide range of resources, including ebooks, peer-reviewed journals, international newspapers, magazines, audio-visual materials, and documentaries. The visit reflects EPSU’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality digital learning resources to students across undergraduate, master’s, and PhD programs. During the visit, embassy staff briefed participants on important services and opportunities available through the embassy, including U.S. scholarships, internship programs, short-term training, the English Enhancement Center, YALI initiatives, and Education USA, alongside practical guidance for accessing and navigating the E-Library USA. Since the partnership began in November 2025, over 700 EPSU students and staff have benefited from multiple embassy visits, gaining hands-on access to prestigious digital resources through the E-Library USA and learning about U.S. Embassy services and opportunities designed to support academic and professional development. EPSU and Kehl University Strengthen Long-Standing Academic Partnership Ethiopian Public Service University (EPSU) and Kehl University of Applied Sciences, Germany, reaffirmed their long-standing academic partnership during an official visit by the Kehl University delegation to EPSU in Addis Ababa on 06 February 2026. The meeting brought together senior leadership and academic partners from both institutions to review progress and explore future collaboration. The meeting was officially opened by Dr. Dereje, Director of International Partnerships at EPSU, who welcomed participants on behalf of the university and invited Dr. Nigus, President of EPSU, to deliver the keynote address. In his remarks, Dr. Nigus expressed special appreciation to European partner universities, particularly Kehl University of Applied Sciences, for their sustained and constructive collaboration. He warmly welcomed Professor Andreas Pattar, Dean of Public Management and Institutional Cooperation (PMIC) at Kehl University, along with members of the German delegation. The President described the meeting as a significant milestone in deepening cooperation, noting that the partnership serves as a vital engine for academic growth, innovation, and shared learning.
