| 5 | Prof. Vinay Lal (UCLA) joins me for Episode 8 of the Akhyan Diaries podcast. I had been watching his lectures on YouTube, especially on Modern Indian history, for many years. He has been one of those influential teachers at UCLA whose lectures taught me many fascinating aspects of history.
In this episode, we discuss some of the deeper questions raised by the Holocaust. We go beyond statistics and the conventional narrative. We talk about human dignity, resistance, the nature of evil, and our moral responsibility towards the "other."
This is not just a conversation about the Holocaust. It is also a conversation about what it means to remain human in the face of extreme inhumanity. Do watch it with empathy, imagination and, above all, a sense of the human spirit.

| 14 | Let me tell you something very interesting. John Keay is a student of the great historians AJP Taylor. When he was a student of history at Oxford in 1960s, one of his teachers was AJP Taylor. We talked about AJP Taylor's personality, teaching style, lecturing style, historical debates today.
Last month when I had a discussion with Vinay Lal, he was a student of Bernard Cohn. And the last week's guest, Richard Eaton, was a student of John F Richards.
I can now say that I am indirectly taught by the great venerable scholars of 20th century, namely AJP Taylor, Bernard Cohn and JF Richards (for 90 mins each). That feeling of happiness. | 4 858 |
| 15 | Just recorded a podcast with John Keay. I don't know how many of you know his history writing but for me he has been an absolutely impressive writer. It was the 10th episode of Akhyan Diaries. And we discussed a lot many interesting things.
So, the last three episodes were recorded in online mode, and with scholars of History in the west.

Ep 9. Prof Richard Eaton on conversions to Islam in medieval India.
Ep 10. John Keay on his overall writing and upcoming book on history of Kashmir.

Every year, students ask for the most probable questions, hoping such predictions will bear some fruit. I have always advised focusing on PYQs and never prepared a prediction list myself.
