Today, an aspirant appeared for the Stenographer exam. During the initial verification and seat allotment at the examination centre, his biometric/fingerprint did not match, even after multiple attempts. What makes this more concerning is that he had updated his biometrics around a year ago, and his Aadhaar verification had already been completed. The centre staff made him fill out a declaration form and then sent him back home without allowing him to appear for the examination. They told him: «“Send an email to SSC. If SSC reschedules your exam, then something can be done. We cannot do anything at the centre level.”» But isn't this a serious concern? If a genuine candidate's biometric fails to match due to a technical issue, fingerprint quality, scanner malfunction, database issue, or any other reason, shouldn't there be an alternative method of authentication? Because if this can happen to one candidate today, it can happen to anyone tomorrow. A biometric mismatch should not automatically mean that a genuine candidate loses the opportunity to appear for an examination. The immediate question is: Apart from emailing SSC, what options does the candidate have now? Has anyone faced a similar situation or knows whether a complaint can be escalated through the SSC Regional Office, SSC Headquarters, grievance mechanism, CPGRAMS, or any other appropriate authority? If anyone has genuine information or experience regarding such cases, please share it. This is not just about one candidate. There should be a proper alternative authentication mechanism for situations where biometric verification fails.
